Analysis: A defining moment (Bush's Baghdad Visit: Liberal Sour Grapes)

Three images tell the story of George W. Bush’s presidency. The first, of Bush and bullhorn atop the rubble at New York’s Ground Zero on Sept. 14, 2001, came to symbolize his transformation into a powerful wartime president. The second, of Bush in flight suit with “Mission Accomplished” banner aboard the USS Abraham Lincoln on May 1, 2003, became the symbol of Bush’s unrealized optimism about the U.S. military’s victory in Iraq. Yesterday, Nov. 27, 2003, brought an equally vivid but more complex image of Bush.

How amazing to see the quick TURNAROUND the liberal press has in trying to find some negative aspect of the President's visit.

This jackass "journalist" Milhouse, or whatever his name is, even includes quotes from Chris Lehane, that mindless drone from Al Gore's election-stealing campaign.

I, for one, am so proud that he risked his peaceful holiday by being with the men and women who have made it possible for us to continue on with our day to day lives. And I pray for him and the way he lifted the spirits of those who are sacrificing for all of us. God speed to all of the boys, men and women out in that hellhole we call Iraq.

It's a she .. and she is perpetually dissecting and offering adversarial views on GWB's words and deeds .. was just on Tim Russert last week doing that very thing. PLUS .. she's with the WashPost ... what do we expect?

It's terrible that the media is trying to find something wrong with the Commander-in-Chief visiting his soldiers on Thanksgiving. Oh no, he flew over Baghdad in blackout! Only because it makes sense. I have a feeling that the message sent to the Iraqis wasn't that their country isn't secure, but that the American president cares enough for his soldiers to visit on an American national holiday at the risk of his own life.
I don't see this as a ploy, or an exercise in bravado. If ex-pres. Clinton would have done the same thing, I would have applauded him (no matter how much it hurt). President Bush did a great thing. Hats off to him.

Dana Milbank is a man (albeit s smarmy, weasely one). I believe you are thinking of Dana Priest, who is a woman. Both write for the Post.

Milbank's sole function at the paper is to write anti-Bush stories, as near as I can tell.

This is WAY better than even the carrier landing. Not only does Bush slip in under the very noses of al-Qaeda and the Ba'athist loyalists, but he steals the thunder from Herself, who thought it a tremendous coup to have "bravely" visited the headquarters in Kabul. The soldiers cheering their Commander in Chief contrasts so sharply with the "photo op" Herself seized that it is entirely possible we never even see many of those photos.

Rather, they said the visit may come to reinforce their view that the administration has led the United States into a lonely occupation of Iraq without an obvious exit strategy.

What could possibly be "lonelier" than our status in the UN, an organization in knee-jerk opposition to anything we would propose. I feel much less lonely now that we have gone outside to find some different friends to hang out with.

Our exit strategy is clear to all except the Left, and by necessity, the terrorists.
