President Bush secretly landed an hour ago and is currently eating Thanksgiving dinner at my undisclosed location. Anticipate a press release after he takes off.

I agree - a brilliant thing to do, and I would bet my house that he wanted to do it for all the right reasons.
My husband and I have also been speculating about how the Democrats are going to try to spin this into a bad thing. There's nothing they can do with this one without looking like the petty, hyper-partisan jerks that they are.
To: JustPiper
Liberals will see it this way, but if you pay attention to the genuins heartfelt emotion on this man and can judge human character, you would know he is sincereMost people will know this, too. It'll only make the whining and crying by the Rats seem that much more petty and selfish.

The democrat party as a viable force is now a question of "when" it will end, not "if". I actually would differ with your post, slightly.
The ultra lieberal Democrat party as we know it as a viable force is now a question of "when" it will end, not "if".
There have been alot of negative consequences of the social programs instituted by FDR and LBJ, but there were also alot of people who labeled themselves Democrats responding to real problems who instituted those programs with sincere attempts to fix real problems. We are all subject to unintended consequences.
The biggest "social program" legislation, the civil rights laws implemented in the 60s, were all put forward by and supported by Republicans. The lieberals conveniently omit that from their recitations of history. A Democrat, Daniel Patrick Moynihan (as liberal and partisan a Democrat as they come) was one of the few people who accurately pointed out the destructive affects of the welfare state on poor, particularly black, families. The Republicans who agreed with him are universally labeled as racists for holding to honest principles of supporting or opposing programs based on their real world consequences as opposed to their advertised intent.
What the dims have become now, particularly under the clintonistas and the 9 dwarves, is a party that hates America and hates freedom.
I call myself a conservative, but I define that as a cynical liberal. I believe in the stated liberal ideals (personal freedom, caring for the needy, equal treatment for all, regardless of race, sex, etc.) but I just don't believe for a minute that Teddy Kennedy, Billary, tommyboy, et al, are out for anyone but themselves. I want to solve the problems facing my fellow Americans (as well as other people in the world) but I can now easily say that the government programs that have been foisted off on us aren't the answer.
We have made solemn commitments, like it or not, to help the elderly and poor who need it, so we can't just scrap Social Security and Medicare, no matter how satisfying that might be. We can expect, however, that the representatives we elect will work at fixing the problems, not just taking more of our money to bribe poor and old people to vote for them.
I expect real liberals and democrats to take back the party from the leftist/socialists and actually become a proud force in America again. I might just consider voting for one of them again, were that to happen.

In an elaborate plan to ensure his security, Bush slipped away from his Texas ranch on Wednesday night, arrived in Iraq on Thursday and spent 2-1/2 hours with the troops.
To THUNEROUS Applause -smiles-
One of my favorites that shows the soldiers were served not only turkey but beef and lobster tails!

Also, he's standing next to the President of the United States and not even looking at him :)!
Plus, his hair's a little too unkempt and his shirt isn't buttoned all the way up. They probably rustled up a uniform for him at the last minute so he'd look slightly more subtle.

Chief ... you must be there, in the heart of evil...maybe with the great 82nd Airborne. God bless you for your service. I hope your Thanksgiving celebration included seeing our wonderful President in person. Hey .. thanks for the heads up! We'd love to hear from you again. Stay safe.
Eleanor "Off-the-Cliff" has weighed in with her typical sneering and sniveling .."Well, it's only right since he got them into this mess." @#$(removed for insensitive comment)%#%^. ...and "the Democrats won't complain unless they see footage of it in campaign commercials .... blah blah blah blah."
Their outrage and condescending and defensiveness (albeit with no US defense posture) will know no NO end ... Daschle threw up in his stuffing, Pelosi has regurgitated her ziti twice already, Clark had to have the Heimlich from choking on his wing, Hillary has peed her burqua yellow, and Soros has stomped his gold bars flat. They really still have NO earthly idea of the character and the "gravitas" of the man they're dying to destroy.
Our President is a Leader!! A man among men! God Bless him forever .. for daring to be bold .. 27 hours in the air to spend 2-1/2 hours with "his troops," at GREAT risk, to put himself along side them in harm's way and *SHOW* them the level of his commitment to them and the mission.
Enjoy your homegrown pecan pie, Mr. President, (GREAT diversion to keep repeating the Texas White House menu) .... YOU EARNED IT!!!

The comments on DU are astounding. I've been reading the comments from DU to my Thanksgiving dinner guests. Lots of old Tomcat drivers and their girlfriends. A few are Democrats, but everyone is disgusted by the comments from those foolish folks. It only goes to prove what hopeless angry little creatures they are. Their comments will be on many blogs throughout the weekend, and I hope they come back to hurt them. May their tofurkey go rotten before they can eat it.
