VOA,
I'm only posting this to remind some naysayers on the forum about the need for
caution...not to chastize anybody.
Dog
Dog,
I LOVE this thread as I said in so many words in post 1082.
Some of those naysayer responses early in the thread are gonna' go down in freeper history!
My later post was just comment in case someone might (unthinkingly) step outside
the bounds of prudence in the future.
OK, so I'm one of those old "safety first" foggies...guilty as charged.
And guilty of loving this "Hall of Fame" thread!

Happy Thanksgiving to you also. Ours will be tommorrow for us as we will be having a visit from our grandchild who is nine months old. So that will make it extra special
What a nice thing for the Troops to be able to see the President and enjoy some fellowship with him.... He seems to shine his best around the troops and they seem to be very appreciative of him....
I actually don't pay them much attention over there as they are a very small contingent in the cyber community...
To: Knute
The comments on DU are astounding. Several have complained that their Thanksgiving has been ruined. They are a whiny and pitiful lot!
They just don't get it. Some criticized the troops for cheering him, some said that most Americans see this as a desperate move. None of them get it.
To: Timesink
President Bush had many defining moments but the two that stand out to me, were when he stood on the rubble at the World Trade Center and when he threw out that first pitch at the Yankees game after 911.

I saw breaking news on FR. I turned to FOX. A reporter was talking as I watched the second plane hit. He made some kind of remark like " let's not jump to conclusions here but it's starting to look like this wasn't an accident. I remember remarking "you think?"

GOD BLESS YOU, MISTER PRESIDENT!
AND GOD BLESS ALL OF YOU WONDERFUL MEN AND WOMEN OF THE UNITED STATES MILITARY, ALL BRANCHES, ACTIVE DUTY AND RESERVE!
I give thanks today for you all. All Americans owe you a debt that can never be repaid.... we can only try to be worthy of you.

"Looks like your boy pulled another carrier landing! A campaign stop at the expense of our troops!" My nephew is home from Baghdad on 15 day R & R and he said something similar. He said the "Hajis" are going to be lied to, told Bush is still at the airport, and they'll missile and morter the crap out of the airport.
I hope he's wrong.
BTW, he's a real wiseguy. He told the Iraqi kids that come to their gate that his name is Jesus. Whenever they see my nephew they yell "Jesus! Jesus!" and ask for chocolate.

Thanks for the ping ! I heard this on the radio just as my wife and I got to my cousin's house for Thxgiving lunch. It was around the same time as your ping too. I told my Dad and his sister that I'd heard this and they both told me that Bush was in Crawford. I thought I may have misunderstood so I just let it pass. Then, on the way home I AGAIN heard them mention this.
First thing after I got home I checked into FR and on the home page there is a picture of Bush and link to this breaking article.
I sent my Dad an e-mail then and told him I wasn't losing my mind ! Bush did make a visit to Baghdad ! ha! ha!

There was this idiot repeatedly calling me "Chimpy" when he flamed me the other day, and I wondered where he got that expression. Now I know....
A DUer for sure!
Anyway, I am glad I didn't post when I first started to read this thread because I'd owe KC an apology too. What an incredible and wonderful thing our President did.
My husband's retirement certificate is signed by the previous occupant of that office. It does not get displayed in this house for that reason. Wish we could get a replacement. Maybe they could briefly put my husband back on active duty, and ...
(He wanted to go back in when the war was fixing to start, but they didn't need him back. Good for our kids and our life, but I think he'll always be sorry he didn't get in on finally FINISHING the Gulf War...in IRAQ, not RIYADH!)

Breaking news: Hundreds of Terrorists slain while trying to fire on an empty airport.
The President's visit is a signal to the troops, the Iraqi council, the Iraqi citizens, the nine dwarves, and America that we are and will win the war on terror. And we will do so because it is right, we are courageous, and we can make more material than any SOB on the planet.
God Bless America!

I had no doubt from the minute I saw that the president had gone to Iraq today that the DUhmmies would be apoplectic. How long did it take for them to start saying that he was trying to politicize the war for the benefit of his reelection or is that already the standard RAT talking point on the news?
