Broken bus leaves Bill Clinton out in the cold -
November 23, 2003
Agra - Embarrassed Indian authorities ordered an inquiry on Sunday after a special environmentally friendly bus broke down as it brought former American president Bill Clinton back from the Taj Mahal.
Clinton was returning from the 17th century monument Saturday on a battery-operated bus meant for dignitaries when the steering stalled and the driver slammed on the brakes, officials said.
As the driver failed repeatedly to restart the bus and Indian officials tried to find alternative transportation, Clinton and his Secret Service agents got off and returned to his hotel on foot.
"The police chief has been ordered to conduct the enquiry and submit a report," said Niteshwar Kumar, the administrator of the Taj Mahal city of Agra.
He said it appeared "some bolt might have turned loose" on the bus.
Courts have banned the use of polluting vehicles near the marble Taj Mahal. Clinton himself highlighted the need to control air pollution when he visited the monument in March 2000 alongside his wife Hillary and daughter Chelsea during a state visit to India.
The battery-run bus that broke down on Saturday had been bought in July 2001 and transported Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf that month when he visited Agra for a failed summit with Indian Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee.

He said it appeared "some bolt might have turned loose" on the bus. That's a pretty technical explanation, could you be a little more vague? lol
To: jellybean
Report should read " some nuts were turned loose on the bus"
To: Ruth A.
Which begs the question: why was a bus needed in the first place?Bubba was out, picking up "ladies of the night"...it was the only bus around that was big enough, for all of them...a shuttle service.

There's an abandoned, air polluting green bus sitting in downtown Minneapolis we could send them for these dignitaries.

Clinton probably didn't make a complaint because the whole incident makes him look like an idiot.

Thanks for the ping.
Did Hitlery go on that other trip to India? I thought it was just a father/daughter thing.

The steering fails and he walks away. Lucky man.
He requested the electric bus. Maybe a little guilt about his monster SUV's, limo's, 3 residences, private jets, etc...

Way too high a voltage, the bus's motor would burn up.

After the visit, they will *need* cheaper AIDS medicine I'm sure.

I wonder how much money he's making for this campaign. The Toon never did anything unless it was beneficial to him.

Gosh, that would have been just awful if it had been on a cliff somewhere and gone over the side. Just terrible.
