When do we stop being so damn politically correct and "sensitive," and just go in there full force and get the job done? I'm damn sick and tired of letting the Euroweinies and our very own leftist "elites" hector us into running a polite war.

IMHO, a considerable amount of force is being used however it is being used wisely and prudently with respect to innocent lives.

What is the current tonnage of weaponry being found and destroyed in Iraq? I don't know the exact numbers but it is ballpark to say 200 tons a day!

At that rate, by the end of the year, even Saudi royalty won't be able to afford an RPG if it is sought in Iraq.

I'm damned sick and tired of dead soldiers too but more than 3000 Americans were incinerated on the morning of Sept. 11, 2001 and the brave men and women in our military don't want that to happen again. I mourn every one we lose but I also realize they are the only thing that stands between us and total destruction. It's bad enough that these men and women have to battle the enemy over there, they shouldn't have the people at home go wishy washy on them.

You might tend to think less sanguinely when someone you love is over there, but your point is taken.

I should have said this in my last post, but it's always sad when soldiers are killed, no matter how low the number. I hate to see the boys killed, but that is something that goes along with the field. And that's what makes our soldiers so amazing. They know they are voluntarily signing up for a job that might require them to go into battle and pay the ultimate price for their country.

This go around I don't have any family members over there. Last go around my brother was my age and flying missions over Iraq in 1991. I never tried to think about him getting killed, but always thought about him whooping some a$$ and doing his job. He told me that first night the airstrikes took place he was scared to death. He said his heart was racing a millions beats per minute, but that he knew he had a job to do. That's just something these boys do. :) And it's awesome.

Agreed. But, to paraphrase Patton; let's make sure that a lot more of them are dying for their cause than we are for ours. Clean up the mess with overwhelming force.

His Majesty's troops put down a minor rebellion in the colonial towns of Concord and Lexington today. When fired on by better armed British soldiers the rebellious villagers fled. Those traitors who had been preaching rebellion in the colonies were captured and hung by other colonials angry at the loss of life at Concord and Lexington.

Osama bin Laden, in a safe-house in the tribal areas of Pakistan, watched as his young associate browsed on the internet connection. "How do you see their morale Abdul?". "Sheikh, I am looking at a site most dedicated to the American soldiers, some have lost their will due to our attacks. If the people on this site lose their will, then their morale is very low indeed."

Heck, a lot more of the enemy has died for their cause in Iraq, Afghanistan, and everywhere in this war on terror. More of the insurgents are rounded up or killed off by the day, if not by the hour. But "overwhelming force" is hardly an option against any enemy that lurks in the shadows and hides among the noncombatant population. We're paying the price of fighting a pinpoint-precision war, as opposed to razing entire villages as the Soviets did in Afghanistan. The problem is, the army isn't too good at hunting guerillas. That's a job for the Marines and SF.

The insurgents must be defeated on their own terms: with superior human intelligence which would allow us to stage ambushes and prevent strikes before they take place. The enemy is confident at this stage because his human intelligence outmatches ours, his ability to infiltrate the other side is greater, and when he isn't actively setting up or executing attacks, his chances of death or capture are small, unless he's already on our wanted list.

Like it or not, this is a war on the enemy's terms.

The Iraqi's have got to learn to stay away from someone that might harm a U.S. operative. If they are near the terrorist, they are likely to pay dearly along with the scum they harbor.

The media has worked hard at turning the American public into wimps incapable of defending themselves or even recognizing that defense is needed. We had a surprise attack worse than Pearl Harbor, on CIVILIANS, and yet we have people who are so blinded by touchy-feely new age concepts of war that they are incapable of responding to an event as large as 911 on their country. Its so bad that even alleged conservatives have gone sour.

Can one imagine half the people in the US wringing their hands and moaning about casualties in the war against Japan? Ummmm, no. The saw Pearl Harbor and they knew what had to be done and how painful the cost was going to be.

I haven't agreed with all the tactics in this war, but it is a war and rolling over and showing our bellies is rather STUPID with enemies like these.

2) Surround ALL offending areas (Mosul, Tikrit, etc.).

3) Carpet-bomb ALL offending areas.

4) Keep bombing until they surrender and handover all perpetrators and agree unconditionally to all Coalition demands.

I agree Mikenola, except if we pull out of Iraq before this job is really done and know that Saddam is fertilizer, there will not be 27 million Iraqis. If we pull out and Saddam gets back in, you can imagine the revenge he will have on the Iraqis that did not support him in this fight.

Lies cost us the Vietnam war and if we're not careful lies are going to lose this one and I can't even begin to imagine something like that happening. Our soldiers do not lose wars - they deserve every ounce of respect and care that we can muster and they will always have that from me.
