Three nukes (originally from Russia) are supposed to be already in the United States and in position.

Does everyone really think this is some kind of a joke? These people are not joking. They are serious.

People joked before when Osama Bin Laden declared war on the United States. They did not take him seriously.

Perhaps now it is time to take these people seriously when they make such kind of threats.

I am beginning to think that they have been planning this for more than a few years. 9/11 was just the beginnig for these animals. They do not value human life. They just want to kill.

Supposedly one of the nukes is stashed somewhere along the Hudson River.

I think you are referring to that bogus "interview" with an Al Qaeda commander, published in Asia, that was later revealed to be a hoax.

These threats have been coming since 9/11. It's awful damn hard to believe 'em...

I always take such threats seriously, whether they turn out to be empty or not.

Terrorists should treat teh promise of retaliation of greater force with equal seriousness. Period.

If this was in fact true - if terrorists were in possession of such devices, and the bombs were "in position" - they would certainly have been used already.

To have possession of a weapon of such power is to be a marked man. The threat of discovery and capture is so great, that you must use what you have, as soon as you have it, or risk the loss of it simply by holding onto it. Use it or lose it, Ramadan notwithstanding.

I'm not saying this couldn't happen. Indeed it might. I worry about it personally, as my work takes me to the heart of Manhattan, at a location that must be considered one of the prime targets of any potential terrorist attack.

The problem with [almost all] nuclear weapons, for terrorists, is that the bombs are constructed in such a way as to make detonation by unauthorized handlers difficult if not impossible. I'm sure that "pull the trigger and run" devices exist, primarily for field use in the military against tactical targets. But even they must require some sophistication (and access/activation codes) that your run-of-the-mill al Qaeda terrorist doesn't possess.

It's possible that an Islamic country like Pakistan may have a weapons design that doesn't incorporate a coded trigger mechanism, that could be made available to terrorists.

Is is more likely (in my opinion) that an outlaw nation like North Korea would actively design and _market_ such a device to a willing buyer.

I'm sure posters to this forum with much more knowledge than me will jump in to correct me, or clarify this issue for the forum.

Having said that, I seem to recall reading about warnings that America would be divided into "3 parts"? Think for a moment of Manhattan with transportation severed between Queens to the east and New Jersey to the west?

Cheers!
- John

Correct. To do so is folly. And fatal.
