There's not much to "handle" on these threads; we just type what we see, hear, and think. See how that works?

Was Schumer elected in 1998? I'm willing to bet that there hasn't been an "extreme" nominee since he's been there.

Well, what does the sub on Rush think the GOP should do???: any suggestions???

Really fight - not just do something guaranteed to fail. Claimed that this was merely a staged event to appease those wanting a stronger showing from the GOP. Then he went on talking about Strom and his one man filibuster. Said how effective is something when you put a time limit on it? And, in reality they were not there the whole time but were scheduled for their time on the floor and then were in their offices sleeping or whatever.

Don't remember any real suggestions on what to do.

Woe is us, all our complaining and we do not have people serious about the situation coming up with real answers.

I didn't listen to whoever was the Rush substitute today, but what I am hearing indicates to me that he hasn't a clue about Senate rules or what we are up against.

If you force a full scale filibuster, every Republican senator has to be there 24/7, while the dems only have to have one at a time on the floor.

I think the Republicans are doing the best they can, and I amsick of the carping by radio hosts who don't bother to learn the mechanisms of the Senate rules.

We shoot our own because we are ignorant.

From your link, http://www.crosswalk.com/news/1182993.html :
Last week, Kate Michelman of NARAL issued marching orders to the six Democrats running for president: Filibuster the Bush judges. And Planned Parenthood demands that the Senate "reject any judicial nominee who does not affirm...a woman's right to make her own childbearing choices."

The Democrats and their allies on the Left are girded for a scorched earth campaign to kill Mr. Bush's nominees. Sens. Chuck Schumer and Ted Kennedy have promised to filibuster to death any nominee who does not pass their litmus test on abortion.

I'll bet Ted Kennedy's ease in publicly dehumanizing his opponents today (calling them turkeys and Neanderthals) comes from his hanging around with the "kill-the-preborns" crowd.

Pro-aborts like to dehumanize their victims as they move in for the kill, too.

The history books will show that Kennedy's habit of slumming around with seedy characters has caught up with him....big time.

WHAT?! Daschle standing there saying he has no objection to a vote? What is he playing at?

Red alert!!!

Remember how Pryor and Daschle said, today, that J. Leon Holmes should be voted on (very soon) for a judgeship?

Pryor acted all innocent as he wondered out loud why Bush's nominee, Holmes, hasn't gotten consideration by the Republicans in the Judiciary committee.

Pryor "suggested" that the senators should agree to vote on Holmes soon. Daschle said no one on his side of the aisle would object to Holmes.

Both Democratic Senators neglected to mention the hatchet job Schumer had done on Holmes.

From another FR thread, For Schumer, His Method and Success Draw Fire

It was also Mr. Schumer's staff that dug up controversial information about certain Bush nominees and then disseminated it to reporters and Democrats.

Among the handouts were the writings of James Leon Holmes, a lawyer and former president of Arkansas Right to Life, who wrote that conception from rape occurs with "the same frequency as snowfall in Miami" and who compared abortion-rights advocates to Nazis.

The Amateur Rocketry Society Of America says Schumer lied in his press release which averred that black powder was used by the Shoebomber, the Unabomber and the Olympic Park bomber .

Black powder wasn't used in any of those cases.

Senator Schumer and Senator Lautenberg Press Conference On S724

"Why anyone in the post-9/11 world would think that making it easier to get bomb-making materials is a good idea is beyond me," said Schumer, the head of the Senate Democratic Homeland Security Task Force.

"This bill would essentially create a new loophole that lets terrorists and criminals accumulate large amounts of the same explosives the Unabomber and other terrorists have used. We should be tightening the restrictions on this stuff, not loosening them." Schumer's press release further states that black powder has been used in a number of high-profile bomb plots, including ones by the Unabomber, alleged Olympic Park bomber Eric Rudolph and alleged Shoe-Bomber Richard Reid.

Yet, it is just amazing that we always lose. The dems will win no matter the rules, no matter the discomfort, no matter how many times they have bad news - they keep plugging along an inch at a time. This determination with the knowledge that the rules are for others not them insures this.

Everytime we have a report of good news for us, there will be at least one poster who says "well, the left will just say this..........". Of course, they will twist whatever action we take, whatever win we get, whatever true fact is released - that is what the dems do - twist, lie, cheat, reinterpret, rephrase.

Yet, we always come back and say well the people will see what they are and get disgusted. But, no, many of the people are the very same way in their lives and that is what they expect the dems to do - so they will not get disgusted.

So, as long as the playing field is this one-sided, the cheaters will win.

We are in a war and we are expecting the other side to play fair. It will not happen and so we will continue as we are now - losing inch by inch by inch wherever the left cheats, lies, distorts, reinterprets, bullies, reforms history.

What are we to do? Just consider this a war and handle it that way - same as Bush is now doing with Iraq (non-weapons of course). We have to clean them out - we can't negotiate with them, we can't make them play nice, they will not be tied down to the truth, the good of the country, what is right - they are dems.

I don't care what they say about what we do. We do it to protect the country. I don't care what action they will take against us, make them fight. I don't care about being seen as "nice guys", this is a war and the nice guys are getting slaughtered even though they are the majority.

Some may not like Rush - but I really need him back to explain just how serious our situation is. I want to hear his take on the filibuster, what the dems are doing and what we can do to fight it.

Thanks for doing the research. I had said they were not paid and someone said "oh yes they are".
I had to leave, you both did my job for me. Much appreciated.

We went through this paid/not paid with Estrada vote.

Schumer Says Ideology is Fair Game in Judicial Confirmations
“I really despise ideologues,” Schumer declared before announcing his intent to “prevent hard-right ideologues from taking over the bench.”

"It is religion and morality alone which can establish the principles upon which freedom can securely stand. Religion and virtue are the only foundations ... of republicanism and of all free governments." Adams also observed, "We have no government armed with power capable of contending with human passions unbridled by morality and religion . ... Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other

Wow - such utter wisdom from these America creators. I fully believe that God assisted them in forming the great concept of America.

Apparently true. Now, I see why the dems are so suddenly secular and anti-religion - just another way to destroy America and turn it into a socialistic empire with them in control of the wealth of the masses.

Little do they understand what they have done in turning against God to get that power.

And, maybe now we are seeing why there apparently IS an "angel in the windstorm" (or whatever that phrase was).

So why should the "hard-right" ideologues give in the the "insane-left" ones? The Liberal Dems are so blind.

"The President shall have Power to fill up all Vacancies that may happen during the Recess of the Senate,

Does this mean that the President can only fill fresh vacancies that begin during a recess?

Or can he fill vacancies that began prior to that recess and happen to be continuing through the recess?

G. W. Bush's Inaugural Address
Americans are generous and strong and decent, not because we believe in ourselves, but because we hold beliefs beyond ourselves. When this spirit of citizenship is missing, no government program can replace it. When this spirit is present, no wrong can stand against it.

After the Declaration of Independence was signed, Virginia statesman John Page wrote to Thomas Jefferson: "We know the Race is not to the swift nor the Battle to the Strong. Do you not think an Angel rides in the Whirlwind and directs this Storm?" Much time has passed since Jefferson arrived for his inaugural. The years and changes accumulate. But the themes of this day he would know: our nation's grand story of courage, and its simple dream of dignity.

We are not this story's author, who fills time and eternity with His purpose. Yet His purpose is achieved in our duty; and our duty is fulfilled in service to one another.

Never tiring, never yielding, never finishing, we renew that purpose today: to make our country more just and generous; to affirm the dignity of our lives and every life.**

This work continues. This story goes on. And an angel still rides in the whirlwind and directs this storm.

**If Ted Kennedy were any kind of a man, he would apologize for his attacks on the dignity of the candidates.

Dignity of the candidates - guess Politically Correct speech just was thrown out the window.

I'm wondering if Kennedy is getting senile. He seems totally without control of his speech. Pretty bad for a politician.
