The Dems are pulling a Super majority rule and the Pubbies need 60 votes to get an up or down vote on these Judges
So far the Dems aren't budging and are blocking a chance at a vote

Yes, and Kennedy also once said "is a re aleh a muntha a neth a nuh!" It makes as much as sense as most of the rest of the things he says.

guy sitting there listening to that crap just lets them go on and on and on and does NOTHING!That's exactly why I stopped listening to Washington Journal.
For a host who is supposedly working on a channel that claims to exist to EDUCATE the public to sit there for hours and listen to out and out lies AND NOT CORRECT THEM is just preposterous.
And all that started when they STOPPED having two guests, one for each side.

Thank you for your reply; and I have read that exact same thing.
And I am now in the camp that believes it's way past time to do that.

The democraps are declaring total victory. Bottom line is that NOTHING HAS CHANGED!!!!! Of course the DEMs will declare victory. But that doesn't mean they won. And while I agree that teh procedural posture on the Senate floor hasn't changed, the tenor of the issue has escalated. That is good, because in order to be resolved, this issue (obstruction of presidential nomination/appointment by a minority of Senators) has to be perceived by a critical mass of voters.
Yeah. They declared victory in the last 2 elections..

sorry that i am late...was out walking the dog...
If the President tries to force recess appointments on the Senate, thus circumventing the normal "advice and consent" process, the Congress can refuse to appropriate funds to pay the salaries of the appointees. The Senate might also take the extraordinary measure of blocking future nominations to "teach the President a lesson."
http://www.thisnation.com/question/010.html
i think a republican controlled congress should be able to support paying a recess appointee

And I just start them; I'm here to learn from the rest of you all!
I must say, as upset as the last few days have been, I am very proud of our senators. They did a great job.
And I have learned a lot about the processes of the Senate, the BS and all!
Just had to pop back, did anyone else just see what happened with the GOP presser? FoxNews was showing it, broke away for commercial, and went to 'revisiting the single bullet theory', JFK! C-SPAN1 had on a live committee hearing, 2 has the quorum call, and 3 had Barry Lynd(sp?) of the Americans For The Separation of Church and State taped from yesterday!
While I was watching 2 earlier, the Dims presser was on live with all their special interest groups on 3. So nobody, not any C-SPAN, Fox, CNN, MSNBC, carried more than a few opening minutes of the GOP's!?!?

I think that is the point. IMO the Dems want a costitutional crisis on any and every case they can find. That way they can try to re-write the constitution the way THEY want it. We are all being dupped. It is obvious to me that they have plans to always push the limits and cross every line from now until the end of time. They can not win the way things are now, so they want to change all of the rules and at least cause enough choas to blur the lines of civility, as well as understanding of our government's functions .
The Republicians need to get a backbone and see themselves on the front line of this culture war.

Maybe they'll claim that they'll take the House back like Al Gore suggested in 2002.
To: RandallFlagg
Can somebody please list the 5 (or is it 7?) instances the Constitution states require a supermajority?

Howlin, my post was an attempt to answer this question:
I apologize if these questions seem naive, but how come 60 votes are needed for cloture? Where did that rule come from?

It's too frustrating and it's all a big set up, prearranged spin by the liberal democrapsOrdinarily I would agree but today I heard from more republicans than in months passed and was pleasantly surprised. What is frustrating is to hear some misguided dem distort and lie and caller is never corrected.
