You would think such libel would be punishable...

Great! You name the bet!
My position is that the Constitution does NOT specify judicial nominees needing a super majority. I believe they will rule on that.

No stakes, just a wager amongst friends.
My position is that they will not entertain the case.

Did you hear Breaux earlier?..from his tone..sounds to me like he's gonna retire...like he doesn't need this agravation..
Re you comment on the SC and Roe..here's our problem....assume that W appoints a SC few judges, and they overturn Roe...so it goes back to the state legislatures, where it belongs..so some states, NY, Cal, Mass, alow abortions...others don't..so a woman from Texas.( anti-abortion) travels to Cal to get one..willTexas prosecute the mother?..no way..the docs in Cal can't be touched..so what do be end up with....seems to me the best we can hope now is to get each and every state to legislatively ban abortions abfer the first trimester...that's be a huge improvement over what we have now..then, actuall, advances in medical science are working for us..loke the new 4D ultrasound...we;re proving every day that life exists closer and closer to the moment of conception...

I admire your erudite posts immensely, but I have to disagree with you on this one. The dims are throwing out over 200 yrs. of history and precedent, and have gone over the line. Until now, both parties have reached up to it, but have never gone over. The rules of the Senate are now clashing with the Constitution.
To: RandallFlagg
Indeed. These are probably some of the most qualified jurists ever nominated in the history of the nation to sit on the Federal courts, and they were repeatedly declared to be "unfit to serve" and "unqualified", even though the Dems' own self-described gold standard, the American Bar Association (certainly no conservative organization), rated them all either qualified or well-qualified, the highest rating possible. The Democrats are liars, and disgusting liars at that.

We just got us a huge arrow in our quiver for our next few nationwide election campaigns. Not if many on the Right do to Bush 43 what they did to Bush 41.
To: Judith Anne
60 votes are needed to stop the filibusterNo, they are not.
To: TomGuy
Wrong.
First, the "deal" Lott made with Daschle has no bearing on what is happening now.
Second, the filibuster option has always been available for judicial nomination, it was just never used.

The way the rats were talking, you'd think that these judges were nothing short of monsters.
Sad.

Am I wrong on that? No, you are not. The time was equally divided. The writer is lying.

The democraps are declaring total victory. Bottom line is that NOTHING HAS CHANGED!!!!! I called in to C-Span and left comments about how disgusted I am with the way they screen - or DON'T screen - callers. One guy this morning called in on the Republican line and he was OBVIOUSLY DRUNK and didn't make any sense but what he did say was NOT what any lucid Republican would have said.
I complained to C-Span further that after the screeners have failed to do their job - the guy sitting there listening to that crap just lets them go on and on and on and does NOTHING! I'm going to stop watching C-Span altogether when they have those call-in comments on the air. It's too frustrating and it's all a big set up, prearranged spin by the liberal democraps. I'm pissed.

"I'm waiting for somebody to tell me exactly how they stop them -- exactly." The way I understand it, it would work something like this: The President Pro-Tempore of the Senate would declare that the 60 vote requirement for cloture on Judicial nominees would be changed to 51. The Dims would then challenge that to the Parliamentian. The Parliamentian could decide either way, then there would be a simple majority vote to approve or disapprove the Parliamentarian's ruling.
Problem is, it seems those N.E. RINOs (Chaffee, Snow, Collins etc.) wouldn't vote in favor of this procedure, I guess we need a few additional real Republicans in the Senate.

That's OK Woody, my wife who knows me and yet still loves me, takes issue with me often. :-}
I am sometimes wrong but not very often without an opinion. LOL
By the way, I admire your posts as well even when you are on the opposite side of the issue.
You in on the gentlemens bet????

Just this morning Ted Kennedy called them "neanderthals" and "turkeys!"

Great picture!!! LOL! I have always thought President Bush is a hunk. Rummy and Cheney aren't all that cute but they do have balls. Ms. Rice is a doll and she is one tough cookie. Thanks for the little chuckle.
To: Consort
Not if many on the Right do to Bush 43 what they did to Bush 41. Precisely.
As I said earlier, after seeing this, anybody who doesn't vote straight GOP in 2004 is working with and for the Democrats to bring down this country.
