Though he’s ranked as the 28th richest person in the United States by Forbes magazine — with a fortune valued at $7 billion — Soros has given scant money to Jewish causes.

Sounds like he'd be happy to contribute to some nice little Jewish transportation cause -- like the Cattle Cars To Concentration Camps fund.

Why is that ironic? Didn't Soros help create the massive economic crisis in south east asia a few years back via currency manipulation?

The irony is that a Jew who has been the personal subject of anti-Semitic attacks would be blaming fellows Jews for the attacks.

It would be -- to use a metaphor used elsewhere on this thread -- a rape victim blaming other women for rape, rather than rapists.

Excellent analysis. We could take it even further and say:

Soros doesn't hate himself; he loves himself. It's other Jews he hates, excepting of course other Jewish millionaires.

I hate admit it, but like a stopped clock, even Abe Foxman is right on occasion.

Exactly. If only their self-hatred consumed only them, we would be rid of those destructive to an entire people.

"There is a resurgence of anti-Semitism in Europe.
The policies of the Bush administration and the Sharon administration contribute to that.
It´s not specifically anti-Semitism, but it does manifest itself in anti- Semitism as well. I´m critical of those policies."
-Soros-

"Let's understand things clearly: Anti-Semitism is not caused by Jews; it's caused by anti-Semites"
-Steinberg-

Soros did not say 'Anti-Semitism is caused by Jews" .. He said, - "policies of the Bush administration and the Sharon administration contribute to" anti-semitism.

Excellent analysis.
-CJ-

No, Stienbergs remark is an excellent example of agit-prop.

As a prosperous Jewish child of Holocaust survivors, who lives not a 5 minute walk from Soros' NYC home, and makes a nice living competing with the man, I am physially repelled by this.

I don't 'get it'..
Obviously, Soros did not say this.. The article, and the quotes by Soros attackers, are agit-prop..

What exactly has Soros done that engengers all this hatred for him?

[I am not his supporter, just curious]

Ah yes, the self-hating Jew.

The man eager to apologize to Himmler, Heydrich, and Arafat for his own people's stubborn desire for liberty, even as the latter desires to fire up a new row of ovens.

Be Seeing You,

Chris

When asked about anti-Semitism in Europe, Soros, who is Jewish, said European anti-Semitism is the result of the policies of Israel and the United States.

And what does Soros believe was the cause of Euro anti-Semitism before Israel even existed? ....You know, the time when 6 million were slaughtered?

"The continuous disasters of man's history are mainly due to his excessive capacity and urge to become identified with a tribe, nation, church or cause, and to espouse its credo uncritically and enthusiastically, even if its tenets are contrary to reason, devoid of self-interest and detrimental to the claims of self-preservation. We are thus driven to the unfashionable conclusion that the trouble with our species is not an excess of aggression, but an excess capacity for fanatical devotion.
-Arthur Koestler-

'The disaster of history in the modern day middle east is mainly due to mans excessive capacity and urge to become identified with a tribe, nation, religion or cause, and to espouse its credo uncritically and enthusiastically, even if its tenets are contrary to reason & survival.'

Mr. Soros is not known for his subtlety or mainstream rhetoric. There is nothing in this article that I deem impossible for him to have spoken.

Naturally I am assuming the article is accurate, and reacting accordingly.

Typical. -- You can't really answer my question, so you imply there is something in the article that Soros said that justified the attacks.

What is it? -- Where's the 'beef'?

THe silence here is deafening.

1) Soros is hated by many on the political right for his enormous funding of their lefty opponents. Personally, I think he's within his rights to dispose of his property as he sees fit, and support the causes he chooses, tho I may disagree with him.

2) My revulsion here is at his promoting the notion that the victims of anti-semitism, which included many many members of my family, somehow brought it on themselves.
