We have a shortage of politicians like Zell Miller. Besides his impeccable character, he is more to the right, then most R's here in Calif.
To: sboyd
Actually the first GOP Senator elected from the Peach State in the 20th Century was Mack Mattingly in 1980. He lost in his re-election bid to RAT Wyche Fowler in 1986. Then in 1992, Pubbie Paul Coverdell defeated Fowler. Coverdell died of a heart attack in 2000. Zell Miller beat Mack Mattingly in a special election that year. The Senate seat currently held by Zell tends to swing back and forth between the parties. Next year will be no different.

Don't hold your breath. Mark Pryor will never be beaten and I don't think Blanche Lincoln will either-- same for Landrieu. I expect all of them to be in the Senate into the next decade.

AR will never go GOP completely. They have the stupidest, most uneducated, backward electorate in the country over there.

Landrieu had a close call.......but she's there for the next five years so we're stuck with her.
Before the election she was careful not to shift too far to the left....but now she has no fear and will vote against the president at every turn.

Yeah, Powell has not really denied that he is not coming back so I think he is done. He of course will not say until after the election. Ashcroft will have a hard time getting renominated. Rumsfield might, too, if he is invited back. I do not have a real beef with any of them.

Do you think the city will riot when the DA arrests Street for corruption? The DA is a Dem. She will not arrest Street for anything. The FBI, on the other hand, may be a possibility.
