Yeah, Powell has not really denied that he is not coming back so I think he is done. He of course will not say until after the election. Ashcroft will have a hard time getting renominated. Rumsfield might, too, if he is invited back. I do not have a real beef with any of them.

If Bush wins reelection he doesn't have to have his current cabinet members renominated if they are staying. Only new ones.

Ashcroft will have a hard time getting renominated. Rumsfield might, too, if he is invited back I understand your meaning (though I disagree with you), but I believe the term is "confirmed". Only the President can nominate. The Senate gives advice and consent.
