I predict Zell Miller will be heading up a national organization of "Democrats for Bush 2004" and would do more good doing that than switching parties.
He could go into all the states that were close in 2000. His Democrat credentials are not debatable. Some of the Dem candidates can't say that.
Miller is the perfect "I didn't leave the Dem Party, the party left me" to campaign to the conservative Dems in the South and to Independents.

I love Zell's position, but the cynic in me says Zell just wants to sell a lot of books and make a lot of speaking fees. Still, I don't really mind Zell doing that...

I am sick of hearing this BS about intimidation. When is the last time you actually saw a white person intimidate a black person? It always seems to be the other way around to me. I was in a traffic jam getting home from Memphis this afternoon. It was suppression of white suburban voters. Let's call the Justice Department to complain.

I agree...bring those Reagan Democrats back into the fold. This will help in Penn, Wisconsin, Michigan, etc.

That is good but in a strange oddity did not the flag vote to keep the flag fail in Madison county?
That is where the Jackson yuppies reside mostly aside from Eastover-Belhaven-Woodland Hills-Country Club area although Rankin has gentrified a lot since my day.

I was in a traffic jam getting home from Memphis this afternoon. That's nothing new! lol
What's going on in Memphis? Are they building or tearing down? Redoing? I wish they'd build a new bridge over the Miss river about 5 miles north of downtown so I-40 west wouldn't have to snake around from Germantown to West Memphis.

I am just stating an actual event that happened early this morning in the Delta. There were some people with a video camera taping people going in and out of the polls. They weren't news people either. I don't think it is intimidation either but it is illegal according to our voting laws.
To: lonestar
maybe Zell will campaign for Bush and than Bush wins and Zell joins Bush in the administration. You know, bipartisan...

Yeah I think Haley will win. I certainly hope he does. I think he'll get about 52%. That's just my guess. If the bottom drops out of Musgrove's campaign it could be 55% for Haley.
Haley has put together a grassroots campaign that the state of Mississippi has never seen. His organization has been out of this world. Mississippi is known for sloppy campaign but Haley's was orderly from the bottom up to the top.

If Rumsfield does not come back, Zell would make a very good Secretary of Defense.
