Hey, PKM. You found me! On pins and needles for Haley.

Have you seen the Sean Hannity thread? I'll link you, on you know where.

The "vibe" I got from Brit Hume's opener (at 6 pm EST) was that Fletcher was going to be a relatively easy winner in KY and that they either had no idea about MS (too close to call) or that Musgrove was going to win a close one. Hopefully, I just interpreted his tone wrong about the latter!

Well, let's see, it looks from the 2000 elections that Warren, Monroe and Alcorn Counties are the ones to watch in Mississippi. If Barbour is losing Warren, he is going down. If he is winning Monroe, he is going up. Alcorn seems to about the statewide voting pattern almost precisely. Of course, in a state as racially divided as Mississippi, until a county is all counted, one really doesn't know for sure, since a disproportionate number of white or black precincts might have been counted in the county.

I'm extremely concerned with voter fraud and computers. I still think you'll need a "chit" that you can keep and one you can put into a box. Then the #of chits in the box are counted against the computer votes to make sure of some system to double check.

if we win MS, KY, coupled with Graham's retirement, Zell's endoresment, and maybe even Jindal's win, coupled with a possible pending Breaux retiremt, can you say the Dems are NOT a national party!

Either way, make sure you get a conservative elected in OK!

I've read that if Jindal wins, Breaux might stay in. If he loses, Breaux might just quit now and let the gov replace him. I don't know LA law...would a replacement for Breaux only be there until the 2004 election?

Either way, I think Breaux will decide to retire.

No, I am not concerned. Kentucky has been using the system for several elections with no problems. But I am no expert.

Actually it's a constitutional issue. An appointed Senator can only serve until the expiration of the uncompleted term.

what you've read is probably true. I can't see Breaux retiring and letting a R governor pick his replacement. That would weaken his lobbying ability to Democrats.

This is pretty good news, then. Most of my family is in Alcorn County. My Mom said the polling places were extremely busy where she votes, and Haley supporters were out in force.
