No it was written by the person stated. A link to it appears a few posts before. But your post makes no sense. Payroll and sales taxes are collected on a constant basis. The beginning of the year just brings a "Reconsiliation" between what you owe and what you payed out in taxes.

My first response to this article was to almost crap in my pants.

My second response is skepticism. There are a lot of reasons to believe that such a scheme simply could not be pulled off. Even if the entire USA went down (unlikely, as anyone who has either seen the way we rolled Iraq, or knows Murphy's Law can tell you), we've got nuclear sub commanders who would figure out EXACTLY what the hell was going down. And believe me, one way or the other, there would be SERIOUS, SERIOUS HELL (and I mean HELL) to pay.

Serious to the degree that we're back to MAD, or at least a mini version of it.

Besides which, the global economy is so intertwined now, any major power who attempted a Hitleresque move would be cutting their own throats economically. And the leaders of both China and Russia have fresh on their minds things like the Russian Parliament standoff, Tiennamin Square, and Nicolae Ceausescu.

No, if Russia and China want to gain dominance over the USA (and I've no doubt they'd love that), I believe there are far, far, far less painful and major-risk-laden means to try to do it.

The implication of the article was that the US government couldn't operate without constant taxes.

We're in debt now up to our eyeballs so a little more debt wouldn't break the bank. Someone would print more money, sell bonds, issue treasuries etc. Besides, payroll taxes are taken out every week, but companies pass the money along quarterly.

It's akin to a Russian not understanding how an American can go buy Christmas present when they're out of money and in hock to half the town. It's something we call using "credit cards". When I read your post, I felt the person writing it had not lived in an American culture.

But your post makes no sense. Payroll and sales taxes are collected on a constant basis.

Common? Absolutely Not!

This is the equivalent of the Christian's second coming.

The Mahdi is THE prophet that would lead the Muslim into the Kaliph.<---meaning eden or paradise. It is Islam's ultimate destiny.

"Net net, I came away from that conversation with a reinforcement of my initial belief that many of those who are "protecting" us are idiots. Guess it's time to build myself a saferoom with concrete walls and NBC filtering, cuz the government SURE isn't going to be of any help if anything (God forbid) DOES happen."

I've been searching the last couple of days for info on whether the government has an obligation to protect it's people. I'm not talking here about the Constitution or the oaths taken by various government officials. I haven't found anything, so I'm of the opinion that Gvt. officials are NOT, under the laws, obligated to the protection of their citizens, only to the continuity of the government, be it federal, state or local.

"Fallout shelters, do they even exist anymore?"

Lots of them still in NYC.

I used to have one right next to the entrance to my building in Bklyn.

You make some good points. However I would say there is good chance that the communists are involved in this somehow. Maybe not in the grand shceme layed out in the article. But then many of there leaders dreamed about it:

You make a good point also. Yes, I know many of the communist leaders dreamed about the downfall of the united states. And I certainly wouldn't put it past some of them to be covertly involved in actions that would attempt to weaken us.

"Swiss won't publish list of banned airlines"

"Swiss won't publish list of banned airlines"

ARTICLE SNIPPET: "The Swiss government says it does not intend to make public a list of airlines prohibited from Swiss airspace, for the time being.

On Thursday, Britain released a list of airlines banned from its skies, despite a European aviation agreement prohibiting the publication of such information.

The transport ministry reiterated on Friday that it would not publish the names of airlines banned for safety concerns, despite pressure from consumer groups.

The statement follows revelations that the passenger jet involved in a deadly crash in Egypt on January 3 was one of 24 aircraft banned from Swiss airspace. The number of banned aircraft has since been corrected to 21."
