I believe it is part of a larger plan being orchestrated by Iran.
They have the cash and the weapons.
Top Al Queda leaders are rumored to be there as well.
They want to drag Israel into a regional confrontation.
To: Oorang
LOL. From some of the gossip I've heard, Clinton will fit right in with that crowd.

Good assessment Mossad. Iran definitely has a hand in this.
Also remember this week is the 25th anniversary of the revolution in Iran.
Iran has wanted to control Islam's two holiest sites since the earliest days. There were some pretty ugly battles fought over the line of succession after Mohamed died. Culturally and historically Persians (today's people of Iran) have considered themselves superior to Arabs. If you really want to tick an Iranian off, call them an Arab. For the most part they feel that their sect of Islam, Shia, is the "true" way, and the Sunnis are misguided.
A mass influx of pilgrims is entering Saudi Arabia in the coming days; some are already there. They will perform the acts of piligrimage en mass, and when they have completed it, they will have fulfilled one of the five pillars of Islam. The end of the Hajj is marked with the Eid El Adha, the feast.
What is interesting to note is that during Hajj, pilgrims are prohibited from carrying weapons unless absolutely necessary. (There are other prohitions - see
http://www.ezsoftech.com/hajj/hajj4.asp - and it was pointed out to me that by the end of the hajj, there are going to be some really super irritable people considering items 2-6 on the list!)
Assuming that the Saudi government holds on through the feast, my guess would be that some of these hajji's or pilgrams will turn out to be mujahadeen, and will not return to their home countries, but will join up with Saudi militants in country and will launch an attack, possibly during the feast itself when the country is on vacation.
But Iran definitely would love to make a land grab.

Well, I don't think I've ever been so handily dismissed. Bird talks like we are history. I think we have, can and will cause them a bit more discomfort than just a signpost on the way to History.

04:16 Mofaz to hold special security meeting Tuesday morning, to weigh Israel`s response to Hezbollah attack (Israel Radio)
The next few days will prove to be very interesting!

Israel is the wild card in the entire scenario - and the only country in the world (well, maybe Britain) who we can depend upon to come to our defense.
By the way, did you see this?
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1060953/posts It's not very politically correct but I thought it was hilarious!

Everytime I hear Iran, I think Russia.
To: Mossad1967
I see the Iran-Syria-Lebanon axis against Israel and how it could stand to profit from starting a regional war with Israel. Good point, Mossad...you are dead on.
One thing I keep seeing in this...and I could be wrong..is this fits the Mahdi scenario to a "T", as well as gelling support for the ongoing jihad against America.
It allows Al Qaeda to emerge as a de-facto Pan Arab government in waiting.
of course, I could need a healthy dose of tinfoil for speculating this...so I am off to buy some Reynolds Wrap.

Unfortunately, it makes sense. Then, throw in the protesters in Iraq, and it's just a huge boiling pot. Then, there is Saudi. They are just all worked up.

I get these crazy ideas from reading some of the old speeches Khomeini used to give. He always stated the road to world domination began in Iran and Baghdad, and ended with the elimination of Israel and the US.
Its Al Qaeda's game plan to a T.

Dear Lord,
Thank you for all the people who have helped America fight terrorism -- people who are afraid but still do the right thing. Your love is totally awesome dear Lord.
In Jesus' name.
Amen.

ARTICLE SNIPPET: "Pak seeks Al-Qaeda leader among arrested suspects; FBI called in Associated Press Karachi, January 19
Pakistani agents are struggling to determine whether an Al-Qaeda leader is among seven suspected members of the terror group arrested in a weekend raid, and they've called in the FBI to help interrogate them, intelligence officials said on Monday.
Officials said the suspects were two Egyptian and three Afghan men, and two Arab women. They wouldn't identify them further, and there's been no word on whether they were believed to be engaged in an active plot."

North Sound 911 Service Repeatedly Targeted
Chris Halsne KIRO 7 Eyewitness News Investigative Reporter
POSTED: 2:18 PM PST October 31, 2003
UPDATED: 2:48 PM PST October 31, 2003
A KIRO Team 7 Investigation has uncovered disturbing details of a plot to disrupt all telephone, computer and cell service to the North Sound.
Investigative Reporter Chris Halsne proves our most precious infrastructures are still vulnerable to attack.
The FBI won't tell you this, but we will: For the past two years, federal investigators have been trying to catch a criminal who has repeatedly tapped into a major fiber optics cable north of Seattle.
This person hasn't been randomly chopping entire bundles of cables, but rather he or she is using surgical precision to black out one particular 911 emergency call center.
Early in the morning of Sept. 3, some criminal strolled into a Qwest Telecommunications server station with tools in hand and carefully sliced one strand of wire.
For the next 8 hours and 41 minutes Whatcom County, Bellingham and northern Snohomish County lost all telecommunications. Even 911 service was disconnected.
"If phone lines go out, somebody could call for help and die as a result of not being able to receive help. We are very concerned," said Bill Eflo, Whatcom County Sheriff.
Operators couldn't help but feel a sense of déjà vu. KIRO Team 7 Investigators have learned that someone intentionally rerouted, cut or altered 911 service to Whatcom County on three occasions in two years. Each time the criminal entered the same Qwest fiber optics "hut" to create the chaos.
"Communications can be vulnerable if you don't safeguard them," said Chuck Busick.
Busick is a retired Army Special Ops commander and now a telecommunications security expert. He says it's naive for the FBI and Qwest to pretend the series of fiber optics cuts is "vandalism."
"From a special operations perspective, it's called 'probing the target.' Trying to find out what their true vulnerabilities are. Sometimes you hit it the first time, sometimes you don't. So going in and doing multiple tests to make sure this is, in fact, a good way to disrupt the communications system is certainly feasible," said Busick.
While the FBI scrambles to find a suspect, KIRO Team 7 Investigators went to check out security measures at the Qwest routing station.
