Al-Qaeda planning US 'death blow'
Australia News ^ | Oct. 31, 2003 | Dubai correspondent -Agence France-Presse

OSAMA bin Laden's al-Qaeda terror network is planning a "death blow" against Americans during the holy Muslim fasting month of Ramadan, a Saudi magazine reports in its issue due out today.

"Al-Qaeda is going to carry out a death blow against Americans during the month of Ramadan," Al-Majallah said, quoting an e-mail sent by Abu Mohammed al-Ablaj, identified as a senior member of al-Qaeda.

Ablaj, who regularly communicates with the London-based weekly via e-mail, did not specify if the threatened strike will be carried out in the United States or against American interests abroad.

"Muslims have the right to draw the blood of Americans, civilian or military, everywhere in the world," Ablaj said.

He did not dismiss the possibility of a "painful" strike in Iraq, which is currently under a US-led occupation following the overthrow of dictator Saddam Hussein.

"Bin Laden has ordered his supporters to carry out a guerrilla war against Arab and Muslim countries where there is an American military and commercial presence," Ablaj said.

"The guerrilla war decided by bin Laden and his assistants won't be limited to martyr (suicide) operations mentioned in his last two messages. This (war) will be carried out by other means and (using) different types of weapons," he added.

In a message purported to be from bin Laden and aired on October 18 by Qatar's Al-Jazeera television station, the terror chief threatened to send suicide bombers to the United States and attack any forces joining the US-led coalition in Iraq.

I think its time we bulldoze all the Ramada Inns in the US.

I remember when a headline like this would scare me a little. The sheetheads have to do better than this to invoke fear in us. Until they do, I just go about my happy little life. :)

I think you can still drill oil through glass no?

Others here(who's credentials I don't know) have said it would be no problem.

I know some people here get a hard on thinking about nuking the Middle East but it ain't going to happen. What would we nuke? What purpose would it serve?

The only way to win the overall war on terrorism is to:

1) eliminate the terrorists we know of (what we're doing)
2) eliminate the Islamist clerics (I hope we're doing this)
3) saturate the ME with clever propaganda

I think that part of our problem is that we promote "doves" in the ME and they get bullied by the Islamists. We need tough leaders to emerge. Ones that can be dictatorial yet not malignant.

If they should pull something off you can say goodbye to the middle east

In your heart of hearts...do you really think so. I don't.

At least Bush has taken some concrete action against this terrorist scum - at the risk of his political career, I might add.

And thank G-d. I have always said that I would have so much respect for a politician who does what's right with NO HEED to his bleeping reelection.

Zell Miller gets it about Bush -- did you hear him call Bush Churchillesque last night?

Maybe we should send Bill Clinton to "make friends" with Bin Laden.

I think ol' Billy-boy has been friendly enough to bin Laden. To wit...

Will this be shown with Rochelle, Rochelle as part of the double-feature?

Add Prognosis Negative and make it a triple feature.

Actually, you're correct. I'd save the nukes for the big cities: Damascus, Riyadh, Teheran, Tripoli, Cairo, etc. And the military targets. Mecca and Medina, and the Dome of the Rock in Jerusalem, would be bathed in liquified pig fat. The rest: Nerve gas. . .

I seriously doubt that we have the intestinal fortitude to turn the Middle East into a glass parking lot.

Yeah, that striping contract is going to be huge!

One thing: They'll have enough room to make each space 14 feet wide, better to accomodate all of those HMMWV's.

Good thing it doesn't rain much there, because wet traction on glass has got to be a real problem.

Re: #168

Sadly, I'm inclined to agree with you about our response to another catastrophic attack. The PC panty-wastes that we've elected don't have the stones to do what needs to be done.

As far at the officer in trouble, his name is Lt. Col. Allen B. West of the 4th Infantry. Please contact your senators and reps at www.congress.org and le them know how you feel.

I would like to believe that such plans are in place (see post #158 from SamAdams). I would like to believe that key leaders have been informed of the likely consequences of certain actions, but I have a difficult time believing it. Why? For the simple reason that in a city that leaks like DC, we've heard not a peep, not a rumor, not a hint that anything like this is in place. Now just think for a minute, wouldn't you want this kind of "leak" to happen if you were high up in the administration or military? It should have quite a deterrent effect. But so far, in over two years, complete silence.

Good point but were that made even semi public knowledge via a leak there would be absolute hell to pay from the rest of the spineless world and the dems.

Perhaps this might explain a couple of Crawford BBQ's with high ranking Arabs ? Just a simple little 'don't-jack-with-me' chat with the right people.

I don't know. It could be personally delivered by GWB to the Saudis and Musharraf, Powell has met with Assad. Off the top of my head I can't think of others, but I'm sure they will come to mind or others here can help out. Remember, Powell, who many may disagree with on some things, is above all a loyal soldier. Just the two of them personally could get that message to the key people without any threats of a leak.

If there is anything else on the shores of the United States of America like 9/11, we need to put a stop to it because nothing less than the future of the entire world will be at stake. How we deal with the next one is as crucial as your next breath.

I don't know what would work. We can't blow up places too close to good places. We can't hit the West Bank with nukes, for instance. So what would we do?

I remember reading about that interview between us and the Iraqi rep just before the first Gulf War that involved our rep sliding an envelope (from Bush 1) across the table to the other. It read something to the effect that if one toe of the Iraqi army crossed the border to Saudi they would be nuked. It brought fear to the eyes of the rep. Sorry that I can't remember the individuals involved.
