ANGELES NATIONAL FOREST -- A man was arrested Tuesday after deputies caught him setting a fire in a steep, remote canyon filled with dry brush and large trees in the Angeles National Forest, according to sheriff detectives.
Hikers in a remote trail about a half-mile north of the Eaton Canyon Bridge in Altadena saw a man making a fire there and alerted authorities, sheriff's Detective Ed Nordskog said.
Los Angeles County Parks officials and deputies arrived about 10 a.m. as the man was standing next to a fire about four feet in diameter. He warned the deputies to stay away and not extinguish the blaze, Nordskog said.
The man, identified as Dikran Armouchian, 23, of Pasadena,

One thing driving it is that it SO obviously easy to start an arson wildfire and do millions of dollars of damage, that if there AREN'T hordes of Muslim extremists out setting them in California, it calls into question the widely held belief that every Mosque is a terror center and ever Muslim a terrorist, given the thousands of Muslims in Los Angeles.

I think most Californians are curious and want to know if there is any connection to terrorism. I think most Californians are concerned about terrorist fulfilling plans on the West Coast on Ramadan, I think most Californians remember when Sheriff walked around with Semi Auto Assault Weapons and the National Guard protected the Bay Bridges, and Most Californians also know first hand, when you go on a military base now you get scrutinized as a potential enemy. And most feel duped by the Environmentalist and the Building Inspectors.

Firestarters are sick and not necessarily muslim terrorists.Accidents are just dumb actions by the unthinking. You are absolutely right. The sad fact is that these fires are going to start whether it's an islamic extremist or one of our own home-grown sick firebugs. The lesson to learn can come from the tragic Laguna Beach fire ten years ago which was followed by setting high standards in fire prevention.
To: RandallFlagg
If the little firebug's connected with ELF, his name matters not. Terror is terror. That is an important point -- it may be that environmental terrorists are behind some of the fires. If so, it should prove to the world that the enviro-terrorists do not really care about the environment. I have been worried that enviro-terrorists and other radical leftists might start coordinating their terror activity with the Islamic terrorists.
Of course, the real culprit here is the government -- along with the environmentalist movement that has sought to make it impossible to remove dead and dying trees. They might as well have placed thousands of cans of gasoline throught the forests -- all ready for some fool to strike a match. The fringe (and not so fringe) environmentalists and their leftist fellow travellers would rather see all of nature go up in flames than allow policies that would help humans.

Interesting, Wonder what the story is ?
Armenians aren't normally terrorists/hostile to the west- I don't think. They are Orthodox Christian usually.
This guy is in the right age group (college-age) to be mixed up with the radical enviro's though. Or he could be your garden-variety- nut-case-pyro, or,possibly, a convert to the Religion of Peace, or something else.
I suppose we'll find out soon enough, I hope they catch the other guy. And, if this guy is guilty(looks that way since he was caught, literally red-handed), along with any others involved, I'm in favor of using some kind of portable firing squad...it's just really awful what he did..
I have lived in Cali all my life , and I never remember the fires being as big and bad as they are now. It's very strange. Prayers for all the people who have lost lives , and property .
We need to Pray for rain too. The fires from a few years back -in Malibu and other places, in rugged terrain,(like these burning now), burned all the way to the ocean (in spite of heroic efforts by the FD). Sorry for the pessimism (as I 've said, haven't ever seen it burn like this), but , I think some divine intervention ( in the form of a little rain) will be the only sure way to put them out.

Wait until the predictable mudslides that follow the fires start during the next rainy season. Wonder how they will pin that on the muslim extremists?
To: fly_so_free
You haven't seen them like this because there is so much more development encroaching wilderness areas surrounded by old growth and no kind of maintenance is taking place. As I mentioned in the Laguna Beach fire which was quite devastating for its time, it was the changes that took place afterwards that is making the difference. Same with Malibu. There was a reported fire started in Malibu a couple of days ago but it was quickly extinguished. I don't know the cause or specifics but folks were on the lookout. Californians are all too familiar with the copycat arsonists.

Just like we wonder how (and why) you'll defend them incessantly.

Well, my entry for
"Paranoid Theory of the Week"is:
-disgruntled liberals/Davis voters going for a little re-call revenge to ensure that the state falls to ecconomic disaster with Republican Ahnold as the leader........Okay, not saying there's anything at all to it.
You have to admit that all these fires being started by some type of human factor(intentional or OOOPS/accidental-arson) is strange though right? Be different if there was lightning in the area....make more sense.
But , then again the problem of not removing the dead trees through logging, and the bark beetle thing, well, that would explain the huge number of acres involved- it must have been getting worse and worse over the last 8 years- and it finally turned into a total disaster - like liberal policies always do.

Armenia is the oldest Christian nation on earthIf I remember correctly, weren't Armenia's Christians being slaughtered by Azerbaijan's muslims after the fall of the Soviet Union? I remember pictures of whole villages being slaughtered by muslims trying to over run Armenia and wipe out the Christians there. I remember being mad that nobody was going to the aid of the Christians there.
I could be wrong though.

Yeh, your right, just thinking that to myself too, the problem of not taking the dead trees out must have been getting worse and worse over the years.
Uh, well, I guess it won't be a problem again for a while now huh? Just too bad Mother Nature decided to do her own clean up. I guess the fires could have just as easily been started by lightning and we'd have the same results.

This just gives the "authorities" someone to blame when the real culprits are the left-brained enviro-whacko policies.

That is what I remembered. I could not understand why nobody came to their rescue. I quess it was because they were Christian. Very sad.
