meyer, wish I'd thought of the volunteer firedepts. Among the donations I sent, so far, I gave the most to the International Association of Fire Fighters.
Tax deductible contributions can be sent to:

Is the fire from the West the other fire that was burning in San Bernardino County?

When they kill trees, cut them down immediately and remove them to kill the beetles and to eliminate fuel. But that requires logging equipment and roads, which are both anathema to environmental extremists.

I've noticed that the guys' moods swing quite a bit. Sometimes they're very ooorah and kick-ass, and other times they're somber. Gee, much like us..

meyer, I did the donation to the International Assoc. of FF's this afternoon. I also intend to donate to the family of the deceased Fireman from this afternoon, when they release his name. Probably send something to his local station, if and when they release that info. I tried to do major organizations first, because these people came from all over to help fight fires.

But you're right, its very hard to keep up with it. I can't even keep up with the thread, let alone the maps. :)
