Immediately set off Intense Aurora over Canada...
http://www.dan.sp-agency.ca/www/rtoval.htm
(That updates constantly, if it begins to approach where you live, you have a chance of seeing it....of course, East Coast of the US will be clouded out ALL night.)
Problem is I haven't seen the Interplanetary Magnetic Field go South..it's pointing N. It's impossible to predict with CMEs..to get a strong Auroral display well south, it has to turn South so it aligns with the Earth's magnetic field.

It wouldn't form an aurora visible in Colorado INSTANTLY; could take hours to ramp up. Auroras aren't instantaneous.
Impact doesn't mean immediately look outside, if you see nothing, give up and go to bed :-)
The Magnetic field is beginning to dip more south, it's almost neutral.

This plot shows the current extent and position of the auroral oval at the north pole, extrapolated from measurements taken during the most recent polar pass of the NOAA POES satellite.

Well, I just took a peek outside my door here in Denver and I don't see squat. Look southeastward, I'm down in Texas...

CNN is still on the air. The Sun let us down.

How are things up there? Will you get some good pics?
We've got solid cloud cover and a steady, light rain .... not a chance of seeing anything even if it should get this far south .... :-(

Nice clear, cold night, not a hint of aurora yet, but I'll be watching with a camera ready!

Overcast in Chicago (and also lots of light pollution) but I can see some slow flickering just the same.

Dangit! I was just thinking of you, too!
I'll try jumping.

Unfortunately the Solar-Terrestrial Dispatch site couldn't handle the traffic today, but one of their people just posted on their Yahoo Group that the European Magnetometer network has basically just been pegged, making this an S5 Geomagnetic storm, only the second one of this solar cycle.

Based on the aurora maps you shouldn't be close to being able to see any aurora yet.....

What is the blue region on the map? Maybe what I'm seeing is the diffusion of vehicle headlights.
