Dear Republican, Over the last few months, Laura and I have traveled the country and have been humbled by the enthusiastic support we have been given. Our country has faced many challenges in the last two and half years and we are meeting these challenges at home and abroad. We're defeating the enemies of freedom. And at the same time, we're confronting challenges to build prosperity for our nation and a more compassionate society. Every test has revealed the true character of America. And no one in the world can doubt the spirit and will and strength of the American people. We are meeting the challenges of our time but there is much more to be done and I need your support. Will you join me in these efforts by volunteering for my re-election campaign as a Bush Team Leader? http://www.GeorgeWBush.com/SignUp/ As a Bush Team Leader you will be asked to help by volunteering at local events, hosting your own events, registering new voters, turning out voters on Election Day and more. Most importantly, you will be asked to recruit more Bush Team Leaders to help us win in November 2004. Please sign up to be a part of this important effort today. http://www.GeorgeWBush.com/SignUp/ The challenges we face cannot be met with timid actions or bitter words. They will be overcome with optimism and resolve and confidence in the ideals of America. We are acting to advance human freedom and liberty and making the world and America more secure. We took action to create jobs and get the economy growing again. We acted on principle. You did not send me to this office to mark time. You sent me here to restore dignity and honor to the White House and to help build a safe and prosperous and caring nation. Will you join me in this effort by becoming a Bush Team Leader and volunteer your time? http://www.GeorgeWBush.com/SignUp/ I want to thank you for the work that you will do in the months to come. There is no question in my mind that with your help we are laying the foundation to win a great victory in November of 2004.
P.S. Again, thank you for making my campaign strong at the grassroots level all across the country. I am grateful to the over 300,000 Americans that have contributed to my campaign and the millions more who've signed up on the campaign email list. And I am grateful to everyone that chooses to volunteer in support of this effort. I need you to make certain your friends and family register to vote. I need you to make phone calls, send emails, help organize rallies, put up signs, and get out the vote. I need you to volunteer in my campaign today. |
My voting record fer POTUS has been Reagan-Bush-Bush-Dole-Bush, and I reckon I'll be voting fer Bush in '04 as well...but many are not "threatening to bail," they're bailin' cuz they've already lost hope in the GOP's direction. I believe these good conservatives can be recaptured in astounding numbers, just like they were in '94. But it's going to take some serious conservative proposals that folks can get behind for Dubyuh's second term. Personally, I'd like to see some sort of Contract With America II outlining what we can expect if the Right works hard to get the big numbers of GOPers elected to Congress.
"It's to work to elect more conservatives to Congress, and to organize our folks to make their views well known to the ones we've already got."
I'm with you there...I've got a very conservative representative (Deputy Whip Cantor) and one good Senator (Allen) to go with one RINO (Warner)...that frees me up to demand more on the domestic agenda-side from Dubyuh, who I fully believe is up to the task at hand.

Like they're going to listen to you.
If you want people to listen to you, you need to have at least one of two things: A) a solid argument or B) some goodwill.
It's even better if you have both.
But you've destroyed any credibility on either count with the remarks you've made about the President and about his reelection.
I'm really not dissing the Bushbots here, TLB, as I believe many of them are fellow conservatives who believe that the Bush we have is all we can expect. That is, they are happy to have a good leader fighting the War on Terror and will take whatever they get on the domestic spending side. I simply believe we can expect more from our leaders and we will get more.

Absolutely.
A positive conservative agenda is a winning one.
My brother lives in Louisiana and watched the debate he had with Blanco. He said Jindal wiped the floor with her. Jindal is only 32 yrs old, but was put in charge of the La. health system which was in complete disarray. Even the dims admit that it has never been better. In the debate he brought up that he did it by using logical, conservative principles, and pointed out that the dims had their chance, using their ideals. He pointed out that they had plenty of time also, 50 some yrs. He took it over at the age of 28 and now it is in the black, and people are getting taken care of. In the local polls he is getting 15% of the black vote(high for an R) and Blanco is below 35% of the white vote, which is the kiss of death for a dim. Blanco is using her Cajun name for her middle name to pander for votes in the southern regions. The New Orleans and Baton Rouge politicians are trying to take water from the Toledo Bend Resevoir in the north and the people are up in arms, and will turn out to vote against the dims. All the polls show a dead heat, but my brother says in La. you add 5 points for the R's automatically. Fletcher will beat Chandler in Ky, and things are looking good for Barbour in Miss. Keep your fingers crossed and we will have a trifecta!!
Fine. But where? Who will take them? And if they, whoever "they" are refuse to take them, what would you do next?
Don't get me wrong but the practicalities are not so straight forward. As far as my perspective, I say we sack Mexico's PEMEX to pay for exporting their impoverished. But then I would not know what to do with the foreign policy implications of a hypothetical outcome related to that kind of crazy talk.
We are all upset by this invasion of our borders. I think most of us would appreciate an effort to militarize the borders, but "deport"? Again I ask where?
No argument here...LOL!!
"Whoever didn't vote to reelect Bush is part of the problem."
In hindsight, I'm sure many regret their vote; however, it is simplistic to blame folks for sitting home on election day because they felt betrayed by a politician who told them to read his lips, then stabbed 'em in the back. For better or worse, conservatives are a principled lot, and they don't like feeling betrayed or neglected by those they entrusted with their vote.
"Demand all you want, but don't get weird on us. Never allow the Democrats to gain power."
While I've voted for--and volunteered for--some Libertarian candidates at the local level, I've voted fer Pubbie POTUS's without fail since I became eligible in '84...I'll never vote to allow a DemonRAT to attain Power. Still, there are many who I know believe the GOP is not much different than the RATS, and I think we have 12 months to prove them wrong by laying out a Conservative Agenda that we can expect to be enacted in Dubyuh's second term.

We'll just have to agree to disagree on this point, CJ, 'cuz I just cannot see how holding our elected officials--and their assigns--accountable to the Laws of this Nation "drags it down." Seems to me to be just the opposite, when a class of people is held above the law, our Republic is endangered.
FReegards...MUD
Yep...and it promises to energize the conservative base!!
