I love Roadrunners! Perfect place for the Channel 4's Henry!
I get to watch them every day...great fun, because they're really quirky birds.
They abound out here in the Coachella Valley - when we did the remodel thing to move out here as our permanent home, we made sure to leave the back portion of the yard open to not lose one iota of the view, and all of the beep-beeps, quail and dove we see every day.

Are you near the fires?

Check the map for a community called "Kentwood in the Pines". It's just south of Julian, the access is horrible, and it's loaded with structures that are right in the trees. I'm guessing it'll be the next big loss.

Fire almost up to Knob Hill on the SR18, Batalion Chief saying fire is heading up the hill, have escape routes ready in case they lose it.

In Yucaipa had one in my backyard every morning and back every afternoon. Really funny if the sprinklers went on when he was there. Dog used to lie on the patio watching him moving around the backyard but never chased him.
Really love to watch them -- they just make me chuckle as they run around.

Nah, I am in Orange County. The air was filthy on Sunday however, when the Santa Ana condition winds carried the smoke to the coast from the fires around Rancho Cucamonga. Driving home from the Palm Springs area today however, the sun was a deep red color from the smoke.

any idea where the fire is exactly? Look just south of there, Harrison Park. It's burning all around them. This is the tongue that came around the south end of North Peak, through Cuyamaca. There's another one north of there moving fairly slowly in the general direction of Julian from Pine Hills. That one's the one they've been working since the fire started and it's under somewhat better control.

In Yucaipa
Had a customer once who called me in Los Angeles (he was in Arizona) asking where "Yukkapa" is? He needed to dispatch a truck to the "Yukkapa Egg Ranch" and wondered if it was near Interstate 10.
I guided him.....but ever since, while passing, wifey and I both say "Yukkapa" when we pass by.

I might add that the big change is that the prevailing winds have returned to normal, so the fires now are tending to move to the east rather than to the southwest. That is why the fire that skirted Lake Arrowhead is now moving east towards Big Bear. The most threatened homes are those on top of a steep slope, and there are a fair number of them built there for the city light views of the San Bernadino area.

Phil Hendrie live on KFI ripping Chuck Henry for his stupidity.I thought Hendrie was syndicated. Is this a special KFI-only show just for the fires?
