I said beginning on Saturday and I say again tonight, I'm amazed and pissed at the lack of supposed "cable news networks" coverage of this tragedy.
This is witness that the cable news channels are nothing but talking shills for their own political agendas. CNN, MSNBS and FOX are whom I'm talking about!
Thank God for FreeRepublic where news is reported, play by play, by real reporters...citizen reporters, there and on the ground.
I'll get out of the way, now that I have ranted, and let those "on the ground" continue their excellent coverage.
Godspeed and Prayers to all those suffering and in peril.

The people in Phelan, on the other side of those mountains are very scared... if the fire starts down that way, there is nothing between it and Phelan except a lot of very dry brush.

Near Magic Mountain near I 5. There is a voluntary Evac. for Stevenson Ranch.

they lost the town of Cuyamaca - They managed to save the fire station, and a couple of nearby homes.

Hey all, just able to get online...they're not covering the fires on FOX (what a surprise)....so I don't know what's going on. Any quick updates for me? How's the fire around Arrowhead? That pick doesn't bode well.
To: viaveritasvita
My husband just said he still doesn't understand why they aren't mobilizing the military, he said even in the Navy every sailor was taught firefighting as a part of their training. Granted they can't do as well as the trained firefighters, but at least they could add a couple to each of the crews, to begin giving those poor boys a couple of hours of rest!!
This probably will not happen, but there is a worst case scenario that is being discussed.
The Piru fire and the Arrowhead fire could meet on the back side of the mountain ranges and move towards Bakersfield between the 14 and the 99. Thank God we are getting some cooler weather.

Sandy: Could you please tell me the post # of that great map you posted earlier? Thanks.

>>The fire in Alpine stretches 16 miles toward Pine Valley, Julian. Pine Valley Road now closed and PV was a "staging area" only a few hours ago. No way to get Alpine fire under control.
My sister lives in Alpine about 2 miles below I-8. Do you know if there is fire in that area?
