Fire threatening in north Highland, near Church ave.

PKM..good news from my brother...he and his strike team on the Paradise fire "Valley Center" Escondido were just given 10 hours off to go to the Escondido Fire Station, eat pizza and sleep. Seems that a marine layer is forming over San Diego and if this continues, he can be relieved in a couple days. The Fire Chief called my sister in-law to confirm the good news.
Now, let's give it up for all the brave souls that face hell in and around Arrowhead. Please pray.

She didn't give precise information as to where she was standing; she said there were 13-14 homes burning. This is not confirmed. I have heard several times now, unconfirmed reports on KFI, it jumped 18, but never said precisely where it jumped.

I had a neighbor tell me that the Escondido fire has reached Bonsell (highway 76 about 6 or 7 miles west of I-15) but haven't been able to confirm it from the babbeling idiots on TV.
Has there been any reports of this?
Highland is about 5 miles as the crow flies due north of me. I'm hearing sirens taking off that way now from, Redlands
To: Kahuna
That is great news! Glad they have some time off -- really was getting concerned at these firefighters being on for over 72 hours.
Prayers are with all of you out there.

>> My daughter used to live in Lakeside and we were in Alpine when she got married. Prayers with you all!
Thank you. BTW, I lived in El Cajon back in 1972 while I was stationed at the 32nd Street Naval Station. I read that it was hit pretty hard.

I'm home now, very smokey here with the wind shifting from the north, pushing the Old fire smoke and ash on us.
I can see the Highland fire and the other fire pushing up to Lake Arrowhead real good.
If you know anyone on the mountain up there tell them to get the heck off that mountain.
To: nicmarlo
Now reporting 1,100 homes destroyed, 13 fatalities, 30,000 homes in danger.
To: PhilipFreneau
I was in El Cajon when we were there. This is just so scarey! She was stationed at North Island.

I read that it was hit pretty hard.I know people very near the Monarch Ridge development that I heard was hit. Anyone have any news on which parts of El Cajon were hit, and if, in fact, homes in Monarch Ridge were hit?
