I'm actually west of SB county. Look for a map that shows L.A. county and I'm up in the northeast quadrant.

"Remember when the RI nightclub fire happened during the Great White concert? They were live from 2 am until the next night."

Great point. Ties in with my post above -- as of this afternoon the combined fires were the size of half the *state* of Rhode Island. That gets no coverage, but one nightclub...!

I can well believe it. I've seen 14 car garages, complete with content, burned to the ground. HUGE homes up in smoke. Valuable, pricey cars, gone. People are just stunned, and I am too, from just seeing it on streaming video. It's neighborhood after neighborhood, home after home, just gone. Left behind is charred, blackened ruins. It's truly amazing more people haven't been badly hurt or killed. Awesome job by the firefighters.

WOW! I cannot feature driving down 18 with ice. I don't like driving that with dry pavement. I like 38 a whole lot better.

I've got a config problem on my computer and currently have no sound - so I can't pick up any of the online feeds.

I agree NEWS does not belong in the name of any of these channels. The lack of coverage is scandalous.

Good to hear you are safe and home is standing. I experienced the 49er Fire around Grass Valley/PLacerville in 1988 while I was stationed at Beale AFB.

I remember standing on the back porch of my house in base housing watching the fire line crest the ridges to the east of us. Luckily the winds changed and the fire moved back north before it got to the base.
