Don't take any chances
If the brush fires are any thing like a forest fire, they create their own wind, and in doing so suck the oxygen out of the air.
I know we lost a friend in a forest fire in the 50s, and that is what they said. His dad was with him and could'nt keep up, when they were running to get away, so he went back in to get him, and they both perished.

Praying those back fires do their job and that the wind stays down.

at the edge of north west Daly ranch to be exact. For what it's worth, I'm on the other side of the valley looking your way. The fire's "laying down" really well at the moment. There's a little section on the hill that's behind the hill that Dixon Lake's on, but nothing this side of there, and that little section is burning back on itself at the moment.
You're also fortunate in that the hill above you appears to have been fairly recently burned and is fairly sparse in vegetation in the wild areas, and full of well-watered orchards in the rest of it.
As long as the calm in the winds continues, you should be fine. That pretty impressive display to the east of you is about half deliberate firing being done by CDF and the local firefighters.
So, I'm sure you'll have a nervous night, but at the moment at least, it's looking pretty good from over here.

We are getting more ground crews clearing a big area just east of me. No, I'm very careful. If the fire crosses the ridge over Daly ranch, I got to leave. The wind is letting off for the time being.
To: Toidylop
we were told there absolutely no fire fighter resource going down to our area... just heart breaking. And you are going to make a difference how?????
Get out!

My Jack is a lover. CRG's Yorkie will like him, guaranteed.
My eldest son's little boy can't get a flight out of here to go home to San Jose until LATE Tuesday night, if then. He was to leave at 6:00 tonight.

No homes yet as far as I know, but I just drove over by Westhills, and the fire is getting close to homes and Mast Blvd. Hard to tell in darkness if any homes involved, since I didn't drive back into the residential streets. Santee Lakes are looks like the most threatened right now.

The prayers are working! The prayers and four strike teams of a half dozens engines each from all over the north county working on Valley Parkway at the moment.
Then again, come to think of it, that may be what he was praying for.

Ooooops! I always get those two mixed up!

Say hi to my little brother and get him a coor's light if they stop the advance of this fire! Capt. S., Rancho Santa Fe Fire Department. Better yet, scram!

Superior Court System of San Diego closed tomorrow, just announced on radio
To: onyx
LOL! I may or may not be at work tomorrow (not thrilled either way) depending on how this goes.
To: Torie
Yes it does, thanks.!

With highway 8 to AZ closed, untold thousands are stranded out in nowhere.
Plus, the surface streets where the highways are closed are jammed with "refugees" throwing those neighborhoods into gridlock, making it impossible for those neighborhoods to evac.

This is the worst thing I've seen. I've bit every fingernail I have. The fire now has crossed over to El Cajon. If it travels a bit south, I'm in trouble.
