Just north of Escondido, at the edge of north west Daly ranch to be exact. I'm praying God.

Do any San Diego Freepers know the status of Miramar Ranch Elementary School? I went there in the 4th Grade, the last year before I moved to Massachusetts, and I fear it may be in trouble. The same goes for Scripps Ranch Library, my old library.

Caller saying Santee fire bad, near Cajon Park Elementary school, fire coming down hill.......

Scripps Ranch was evacuated I know. Don't know it's present status.

NOW REPORTING: ALL SAN DIEGO (city?) schools closed tomorrow.
To: nicmarlo
Gotta be county. The city is not as affected as the outlying regions. Where did ya hear that one?
To: nicmarlo
Confirming: ALL SAN DIEGO CITY SCHOOLS closed tomorrow.

I agree about them torching the new construction project but not starting a wildfire that could get so far out of control. I would like nothing more than to see those little bas_ards strung up!

Ok, so it city. Wow. I hope businesses do the same then. We don't need a bunch of parentless kids sticking around their houses tomorrow.

76 runs E-W (actually about freom Oceanside ..Camp Pendleton Main Gate area , in a ENE direction along the San Luis Rey River and intersects the 15 just south of Fallbrook.
Somewhat parallel to 76, but running ESE is 78 from Carlsbad, just south of Oceanside, in a ESE direction towards Escondido.
Just south of there, runs S6, which Intersects the coast around Encinitas and Del Mar in a number of lesser roads running in a ENE direction as Del Dios Hwy up to Canyon Parkway past Lake Hodges (Rancho Santa Fe) intersecting the 15 a mile or two south of where the 78 intersects the 15 in Escondido.
South of there, is the 56/Ted Williams Parkway running from Torrey Pines Easterly to around Scripps Poway Parkway.
And south of there is the MCAS Miramar in Northern San Diego between the 5 and 15.

The environmentalists have tried to delay the opening of the 56 but it is slated to open next year. It will go from the 15 to the 5, just down the road from us.

Better yet, just get the word out and vote down every environmental bill being proposed. Then jerk the recently acquired parklands and wilderness areas back into local control.
Associate 'environmentalism' with cold, heartless, cruel, devastators of all things from the family to the nation. Pagans who simply wish to rebel against all things holy.

Thanks. In Orange County, the 74 is Ortega Highway and the 73 is the Toll Road. ;-) This is a scary fire. It is trapping us folks in the South. If we evacuate, I might sleep in Balboa Park. :-( Please pray.

"I think 76 is the highway from Oceanside to Escondido"
That's 78, 76 is from Oceanside to I-15 about 10 miles north of Escondido, it's also Mission Road in Oceanside. It also continues on to some indian casino, I just use it to get to I-15 if i'm going north, it's 2 lanes most of the way.

Oh no! I used to live in Santee (I lived all over the So.Cal. area, from Glendale to Chula Vista). I did forget to mention earlier that my friends in Santee were packing and had been given a pre-warning (for lack of better word) for evac. They were a little worried about where the heck they would go since the fires are all around them. (One friend -- not in Santee -- said they were told to go to Qualcom Stadium -- real name: Jack Murphy Stadium! AS IF! As if anyone in their right mind would want to trap themselves at the JM stadium with a couple of thousand others!!) I guess Santee friends are evacuating right about now!
Re the news coverage: It's shameful! What do you suppose is their point in endlessly discussing the Iraqi hotel bombing???
