500 homes destroyed, 11 dead.

- Flames stoked by powerful winds raced through Southern California on Sunday, growing to more than 208,000 acres, destroying 500 homes in densely populated suburbs and causing at least 11 deaths. At least eight people were killed in the state's largest fire in eastern San Diego, including two who died inside their car as they apparently tried to escape the flames, said San Diego Sheriff Bill Kolender said

So far. And they say these fires are still out of control.

I was thinking of forwarding these hypotheses to contacts in Sheriff Dept. command.

Please don't. They are extremely busy right now, and have no time to deal with excitable tinfoilers and wacky theories. This is not Al Qaeda, but probably copycat pyromaniacs/teens/thrillseekers/etc.

Out of control is correct. Not enough men and equipment. Attempts to (what is it called?) set fires against approaching fires have failed. The winds are still blowing and sending the fires a jumpin.'

This is just the first day. Unfortunately, it could go on for many more. Wow.

Great map. I now know why the air in my area along the coast in Orange County is so horrible. The El Cajon wind patterns head straight my way.

LOL! I would not miss the losing chargers. :-)
I wonder if we need to still stay off phone lines. The word I heard from SDG&E was to not use appliances till tonight and then be sparing in use. Pizza is a good dinner suggestion. Took the dog out justr now and it was eerie but the air was not the normal Santa Ana hot. I am praying fervently for rain. I wonder what will happen tomorrow when companies open for business?

How do these fires compated with some of the fires over the past 30 years out there?

Our neon red-orange sun is going to set in a very few minutes --- can you imagine what that'll do? How dark is dark when the air is filled with smoke and ash? We're about to find out.
