It must be added that it wasn't until 9:00 or 9:30pm that she got any hydration because of obstruction by Felos, etc.

Coma and Persistent Vegetative State

A coma is a profound or deep state of unconsciousness. The affected individual is alive but is not able to react or respond to life around him/her. Coma may occur as an expected progression or complication of an underlying illness, or as a result of an event such as head trauma.

A persistent vegetative state, which sometimes follows a coma, refers to a condition in which individuals have lost cognitive neurological function and awareness of the environment but retain noncognitive function and a perserved sleep-wake cycle.

It is sometimes described as when a person is technically alive, but his/her brain is dead. However, that description is not completely accurate. In persistent vegetative state the individual loses the higher cerebral powers of the brain, but the functions of the brainstem, such as respiration (breathing) and circulation, remain relatively intact. Spontaneous movements may occur and the eyes may open in response to external stimuli, but the patient does not speak or obey commands. Patients in a vegetative state may appear somewhat normal. They may occasionally grimace, cry, or laugh.

Is there any treatment?
Once the patient is out of immediate danger, although still in coma or vegetative state, the medical care team will concentrate on preventing infections and maintaining the patient's physical state as much as possible.
Such maintenance includes preventing pneumonia and bed sores and providing balanced nutrition. Physical therapy may also be used to prevent contractures (permanent muscular contractions) and orthopedic deformities that would limit recovery for the patients who emerge from coma.

What is the prognosis?
The outcome for coma and vegetative state depends on the cause and on the location, severity, and extent of neurological damage: outcomes range from recovery to death. People may emerge from a coma with a combination of physical, intellectual, and psychological difficulties that need special attention.
Recovery usually occurs gradually, with patients acquiring more and more ability to respond. Some patients never progress beyond very basic responses, but many recover full awareness. Patients recovering from coma require close medical supervision. A coma rarely lasts more than 2 to 4 weeks. Some patients may regain a degree of awareness after vegetative state. Others may remain in a vegetative state for years or even decades. The most common cause of death for a person in a vegetative state is infection such as pneumonia.

Do you think MS paid for the house out of Terri's trust and then put the property in Jodi's name?

Investigation needs to be done on just how $1.2M was spent.

Oops.......I forgot to mention I thought it was pretty odd that Michael dismissed the nurse's testimony....saying where was she in the first trial? He said that she came out with her testimony 6 years later..........? I think that is what he said....

Well, why did he come out with this Terri wants to die stuff years after her supposed heart attack/potassium levels?

What a shmuck!

He may have bought the house before Jodi moved in. Then they agreed to put it in her name -- that gives her the leverage to control him -- while he presses to get rid of Terri. It's pretty much the same thing as a marriage commitment to keep Schiavo "honest."

He didn't even know the husband had one child and another one on the way with the woman he is living with.

Correction. Jodi and Michael's second baby has recently arrived! Heard it from the vigil. Michael got lucky that the caller only knew of one baby.

One other tidbit....some here claim it is outrageous that MS accused TS's father of being "out for the money"....and yet that claim is just fine when MS is the subject.

IMO .. it's not about the money .. it's already spent .. where?.. who knows .. but it is gone

IMO .. he wants her dead for his own reasons .. and his lawyer has his .. Terry is a test case for him IMO

Good p[oint. It is Felos who has received the vast majority of Terri's trust for rehabilitation, as per Greer's secret authorization to pay the atty for the effort to have Terri put down. MS did receive $300,000 for loss of consortium, in the initial malpractice suit, so his calim that he has gotten no money and will get no money from this is absurd. BTW, Michael shows sociopathic tendencies (I watch the eyes, too, while someone is answering a question or series of questions), so his ability to parse answers is highly developed. Did you notice that his answer regarding Bob Schindler asking about money when the initial lawsuit was being settled could have as easily been a question posed in regards to anticipating her Mom and Dad taking care of her, just as easily as it could have been the more sinister meaning Michael tried to convey? THAT is classic parsing on the order of a sociopath. Clinton was the other spociopath folks might be very familiar with, who was so adept at parsing.

If this is true, it reconfirms my suspicion that Jodi may not be as naïve as some have suggested. Michael better watch his back.

But you notice that with some surprise when larry confirmed the news by saying to Michael 'You have a child?' that Michael said yes.....BUT DID NOT EVEN HAVE THE DECENCY TO SAY, 'I have two children'. What an absolure horror of a man.

He may have bought the house first and then change/sold it to Jodi

But in all honesty, I don't think it was to put pressure on him

I'm thinking it's more to protect his investiments ..

Actually, (just to keep the record straight) he became a Cert. Resp. Therapist in 1997, Registered Resp. Therapist in 1999, then an RN in 2000.
