All us freepers chained to our computers REALLY appreciate what you have done there on the front lines! Many of us would have liked to have gone to the vigil but are just too far away. Thank you for what you have done for Terri.

I hope you didn't get too hard a time from some of the other freepers. There are some people that really don't get what Terri's fight is all about, and sometimes you need a teflon suit around here. But there are many here who feel just as driven as you to keep Terri from being murdered. We're glad you're here. :-)

Dear Pat,

For the record, on December 13, 2002, we (Terri's family) became aware that Terri was suffering from a Virus/Flu like infection. Typically over the past three years, when Terri required a doctor's attention, we had to literally beg the Hospice nursing staff to have a doctor examine Terri.

This occasion was no different. We expressed our fear to the Hospice nursing staff that Terri would develop pneumonia unless she received a doctor's examination. As you know, our requests were ignored. Out of frustration, we placed phone calls to Dr. Gambone, which the Doctor ignored. Never-the-less, Dr. Gambone did phone in a medication order for Terri.

Although Terri seemed to be rebounding from the Virus/Flu infection, she began to cough, at times violently. We called Terri's persistent coughing to the attention of the nursing staff, however no remedy action steps were taken. The coughing continued throughout the month of January 2003. By February 8, 2003, Terri's coughing increased substantially, accompanied by a heavy mucus buildup. The mucus problem became so severe it required Terri to be regularly suctioned. A byproduct of the suctioning caused a throat irritation, which impeded Terri's swallowing capabilities.

Once again we pleaded with the hospice nursing staff that Terri receive the attention of a doctor. Once again our pleas were unheard. Since there were no indications that Dr. Gambone had visited or would visit Terri, we advised the nursing staff we would initiate a call to Dr. Gambone. Shortly after, the nursing staff advised us that Dr. Gambone called in and was ordering a vapor mist for Terri plus cough medicine. Although the medication offered some relief, Terri's coughing condition still lingered.

On Wednesday February 12, 2003, we visited with you and Ann Saint Marie(?) pleading once again to have Terri examined by a doctor. Later that day, we were told that Hospice's Doctor Moore saw Terri. We were also told, Dr. Moore recommended to continue the vapor mist and cough medicine treatment.

Since December 13, 2002. Terri has been suffering from the lingering effects of the Virus/Flu and it's associated ailments. For the past 3 months Terri has been coughing and audibly is congested, emitting raspy sounds of mucus accumulation.

The degree of coughing and mucus buildup varies. However, the effect of the prolonged cough and mucus accumulation is visually taking it's toll on Terri's physical condition.

As Terri's medical caretaker, we are bewildered how in good conscience, Hospice has not taken steps to remedy Terri's lingering medical condition. As of March 15, 2003 Terri still has a disturbing cough and she has not fully recovered from the Virus/Flu. Even an unskilled medical neophyte can conclude that unless Terri receives immediate Doctor supervised medical attention, she will develop a serious medical problem.

With this consequence in mind, on Monday March 17, 2003, Mary requested that you have Terri receive a chest x-ray, if only to determine that Terri may have contracted pneumonia. Later on Monday, you advised Mary that Michael Schiavo will not give his permission to have Terri tested to determine if she has or is developing pneumonia. Need I tell you, pneumonia is a life threatening medical problem.

In our meeting on February 12, 2003, I expressed our concern that Terri's lack of proper medical attention could and would lead to a fatal illness. I also indicated that while Terri was under Hospice's care, Hospice had a responsibility to have a doctor examine Terri and to treat Terri should she require medical assistance.

Your action of denying Terri a routine chest x-ray to determine if Terri may have contracted pneumonia, speaks volumes. It appears you are being instructed to make critical medical decisions based on instructions from a person who is medically unqualified.

I am confident we mutually share the same esteem for the medical profession and the ethics contained within such a highly regarded vocation. Therefore, Mary and I implore you to provide the routine medical care we are requesting for Terri.

Please place this letter in Terri's file. I am sending a copy of it to Dr. Gambone.

PUBLIC STATEMENT OF THE SCHINDLER FAMILY IN RESPONSE TO THE
STATEMENT OF MICHAEL SCHIAVO

We, the Schindler family, wish to respond to the statement of Michael
Schiavo published by the media on October 20, 2003. Mr. Schiavo's
statement is an exercise in self-justification that completely rewrites
the true history of his efforts to have our Terri put to death by
starvation and dehydration.

Here are the facts that Mr. Schiavo has hidden in his statement:

- Terri, on Mr. Schiavo's orders, has had no therapy of any kind since
the Fall of 1991.

- At a medical malpractice trial in November 1992, Mr. Schiavo swore to
the jury that he would devote any jury award to Terri's care and
rehabilitation and he promised under oath that he would take care of
Terri for the rest of his life.

- After securing an award of over $700,000 for Terri's care, Mr. Schiavo
did an about-face, and has spent the last 10 years in a determined
campaign to cause Terri's death.

- This campaign began within a few months of the malpractice award, when,
in mid-1993, Mr. Schiavo had a "do not resuscitate" order placed in
Terri's medical chart.

- In June of 1993 Mr. Schiavo refused to allow treatment of an infection
Terri had developed, later admitting under oath that he expected the
infection to progress to a fatal sepsis that would kill Terri.

- In 1995, contrary to his promises to the jury that he would honor his
marriage vows, Mr. Schiavo, who still pretends to be Terri's "loving"
and "grieving" husband, began living with another woman, by whom he has
conceived two children out-of-wedlock. He calls this woman his fiancée,
even while his wife Terri lays starving and dehydrating to death in
hospice for the terminally ill-to which he consigned her three years
ago so that she would receive no therapy.

- It was not until 1998, when Mr. Schiavo hired Mr. Felos, that Mr.
Schiavo suddenly "remembered" that Terri had made some vague remarks
about not wanting to be sustained on anything "artificial" if she
became incapacitated.

- When he promised the malpractice jury back in 1993 that he would take
care of Terri for the rest of his life, Mr. Schiavo said nothing to the
jury about Terri not wanting to be sustained on anything "artificial."

- Mr. Schiavo's crocodile tears and his statement that "I struggle with"
the Court's order to starve and dehydrate Terri defy belief. That order
is the end result of Mr. Schiavo's utter determination to see Terri
dead so that he can marry his "fiancée."

- Even though he has no Court order authorizing his actions, Mr. Schiavo
has not only removed the feeding tube that has sustained our Terri for
13 years, but has also ordered that no attempt be made to feed Terri by
mouth, even if she could be trained to take sustenance orally.

- On Saturday, October 18, 2003, one of Mr. Schiavo's team of lawyers
refused to allow our Terri to receive her final Holy Communion. This
lawyer would not even allow Msgr. Malanowski to place a miniscule piece
of the Host on her tongue. Perhaps Michael fears that if Terri can
swallow a piece of the Host, the whole world will know he is starving a
helpless woman who can take sustenance by mouth.

- Mr. Schiavo has spent the great bulk of Terri's malpractice award on
legal fees for Mr. Felos, in an effort to have Terri killed. He spent
nothing on Terri's therapy and rehabilitation-contrary to the promises
he made to the jury, under oath, more than ten years ago.

We cannot allow Mr. Schiavo's lies to go unanswered. We pray that God
will see to it that justice is done and that our Terri's life is
delivered from the clutches of this ruthless man, who dares to pretend
that he is grieving with us over what he has done to Terri.

No, I see nothing he's done in Terri's case that would get him in trouble. The irregularity of sucking off her medical fund was approved by the judge. Seems very unethical on the face of it, but how does one go after a judge?
A lawyer's behavior is usually very well documented, legal search would probably be exhausting but you could probably find every client and every syllable he ever uttered in a court.
Not my field...we need a good PI. There's one in FL but his name is Schiavo, lol.
The best way to derail the lunatic Felos, IMO, is to expose him for a flake. That business about crashing a plane with his paranormal abilities, if THAT got wide attention, the media would be twirling his guts merrily down the road.
I know if I were calling into Larry King, that's what I'd discuss!
But aside from the media and the professional investigators, hopefully someone at FR has law research skills. There must be lots of disgruntled people in his wake. If he's never been sued it's a miracle.

Well there have been a couple of thoughts that have bothered me for awhile as far as what might have happened that night....I mean apart from the possibility of her having been choked, which needs to be investigated. One of these possibilities would implicate Michael and the other would not. Given the affadavit of Nurse Iyers it appears that Michael may have injected Terri with insulin on several different occasions, and while it can't be proven, combined with other information, it certainly adds to a large pile of circumstantial evidence. So given his apparent familiarity with hospitals and giving injections, isn't it possible that he might have injected Terri with potassium, although, I have to admit that it seems a bit far-fetched.

The other possible scenario which I am surprised we haven't heard more about, is Terri's eating disorder. Seems she was obsessed with her weight and had lost over a hundred pounds since graduating from high school, according to one article. It has been reported that she was bulemic, which wreacks havoc with the body's natural chemical balance. Also, it is not uncommon for a person with an eating disorder to abuse laxatives and/or diuretics which, in the case of diuretics, causes potassium deficiency. Perhaps she had taken a potassium supplement, even to excess, which could have caused the severe reaction. Just something to think about.

I agree, since MS isn't even denying it. Nobody can so falsify ten years of records, to show rehab when there wasn't any.

I am suprised to. If I ever bring it up, I get ignored. She may well have been gagging herself several times a day which also is extremely destructive to the body. It IS odd that her illness is never discussed. I'm suprised that Felos hasn't brought it up.

Yeah, same here. Seems like it would be a plausible defense...not that I am want to give him one, mind you. On the other hand, could be that offering a defense at this point in time would make his client look guilty of something and he would prefer not to raise that issue if it can be avoided. I suspect he figures it will come up soon enough and I wouldn't be surprised if this was something he had in his arsenal for use when needed.
