Thank You, God, Florida Senate and Legislators!!!

Thank you, God, Florida Senate and Legislators for passing Terri's bill today!!! As the parent of a disabled son who is 9, I will be elated when I hear that Terri's feeding tube is back in! The only thing that will make me any happier is when I hear that her parents and siblings have custody of her, and that Michael Schiavo and company are going on trial for conspiracy to murder Terri. As some of you may or may not know, Michael Schiavo, Terri's so-called husband has been living with another woman and has children with her. Michael would inherit about 1 million upon Terri's death. That money is Terri's Life Plan medical care money and is supposed to be used to care for Terri. Would anyone want a husband like that to be making their medical decisions? I would certainly hope to God not!

If you mean Michael and Terri Schiavo, well, Terri is non-verbal, so, she can't voice her opinions. Therefore, those who can speak and fight for her are doing just that.

Thank God and the Florida legislatures, and Gov. Bush!
Thanks to all across the country, who called, emailed, and held signs for Terri!
What a day, Terri will be saved, along with the banning of partial birth abortions!
Great victories for life today!

"I don't think these people have any conception of what the term "slippery slope" means."

I think everyone here is very well aware of what a "slippery slope" is. What you don't realize is that every hill has two slopes, and we've been sliding down the -other- side for a long while. Finally, for a brief moment, the slide has been temporarily halted. Frankly, we could do with some climbing back up to the top (middle).

Thankyou for your noble effort to educate in post 124. But a man who says a woman is dead because her husband considers her dead, is just not rational.

Doubt that very much. I thought for a moment you were that loon who was pimping his book on the greatness of W.H. Taft and his "motorcars" some months ago.

I guess not. Your first name's not Stephen, per chance, is it? ;0)

Thank you. Greer is leaving the door open for more action by executioner Felos. This isn't over, but we have can only slay one dragon at a time. This is a miracle worked by God himself. He has listened to the faithful pray unselfishly for the life of Terri. I read many posts where people said they themselves had hardly eaten or were fasting in natural response to this. I can be included in that group.

I owe it to Terri; I was not on her side at first.

Now I guess I'm one of the people Newsweek calls NAIVE for believing that you shouldn't write anyone off as hopeless till you've tried proven therapies.

There is a simple solution to your dismay over "Terri's Bill"...create a living will. Society must have some norms to operate under, and I think many people would rather err on the side of life, rather than death.

But, your life is your own. To that end, I provide the following link:

On the importance of a living will.

My advice is to quit carping about perceived injustices and see to it that your personal wishes are carried out. There are websites that offer living wills by state for free or for a nominal charge. Try a google search with the keywords "free legal forms".

Praise God, it has been a good day. I got a clean bill of health from my doctor, the senate passed the partial birth abortion ban and most important Terri's bill has passed and Gov. Jeb Bush is taking a stand against the "culture of death."

God is still in the miracle business.

BUMP TO THAT.

The state shouldn't be in this position. Everyone who turns 18 ought to get this and a durable power of attorney done and ensure that family members understand that the documents exist and where they are.

There ought to be a class in high school on these matters. We teach kids about contraception but we don't teach them about basic methods of legal self-protection--things that everyone needs to know.

I am becoming more and more irritated at the multiple pings and spam posts to our state announcement board,

Easy solution. Just don't click on them.

The slippery slope effect in Holland:

"I know of patients in a nursing home who are carrying around what they call sanctuary certificates all the time, stating that they do not want to be helped to die. People are afraid of being sick or of being knocked down in case a doctor takes the decision, without their permission, to stop treatment."

Involuntary Euthanasia is Out of Control in Holland

We cannot allow America to fall to the culture of death.

Now I guess I'm one of the people Newsweek calls NAIVE for believing that you shouldn't write anyone off as hopeless till you've tried proven therapies.

Another posted the following to another thread that ran earlier today. This is a comment made by one of the legislators who voted last night.

"One female legislator talked about her grandmother, how her family was told she would never recover from her so-called vegetative state, and at one point they pulled the feeding tube for TEN DAYS, then couldn't take it anymore and had it put back in. She went on to live for 3 more years and the day before she died, she became much more alert and had a conversation with her granddaughter that made it perfectly clear that she had been in there the whole time, knew her granddaughter had been faithful in her visits, they even discussed childhood stories. "

Sometimes, the 'claims' of medical science are just that - claims. Here is the first-hand account of one FL legislator with personal experience.

Terri Schiavo is not, and never has been in a coma or on life-support. She breathes on her own. If anything, Christopher Reeve, TOTALLY dependent on a pump and oxygen, is a classical example of a person on "life support". I don't hear anyone clamoring to remove his tube, do you?

"It's the difference between a news report and a press release, and it's a shame so many people can't tell the difference."

There is absolutely no difference between the two.
Unless you are one of the few who still, against all odds, stubbornly "believes".
Or, alternately, if you are "in the business", perhaps you just resent the fact that people can now bypass your professional skills, and research in an instant what used to take several months of hard investigative "professional" legwork.
Now get off these threads, unless you have something more than sour grapes and vague innuendo to add.
In case you havent noticed, this is definately not a PC website.

And yes, feel free to quote me on that!
