TALLAHASSEE, FL -- According to a news release sent by the Terry Schindler-Schiavo Foundation, Florida Speaker Johnnie Byrd will introduce "Terri's Bill" during the special session Monday.
The bill would put an immediate moratorium on all dehydration and starvation deaths in Florida. Meanwhile, supporters of Terri Schiavo showed up Sunday outside a Pinellas Park hospice.
Doctors say Schiavo has been in a vegetative state since complications from a heart attack in 1990. Her husband was granted a court order that her feeding tube be removed, saying his wife wouldn't have wanted to be kept alive.

*Good points,Yaelle, about naming names!
What about taking food/waater from Christopher Reeve, Ronald Reagan, any other known handicapped names?
People relate more to familiarity. Makes the idea "more real", i.e. taking food/water away.

You know, we're seeing what we can do when we really put our shoulders to the task. Whenever we really get steamed up over an issue, the lawmakers stop and begin to listen to us.
I have new hope here tonight. Together, we can make a difference. Together, with God's help, we may be able to save Terri's life.
I'm so proud to know you kind and wonderful friends!!

I just wish I could hug each and every one of you in person right now! I'm getting excited and hopeful!

Thanks for the ping, Julie! Halfway through House list, but have received only 2 acknowledgements from the A's. All delivered so far.
Your suggestion of stating support of Terri's Bill in the subject line is a good one! There's no way they could/would read many lengthy messages.
Back to work.

I think this guy is in "lust" with his chickie. Love is not something he's capable of feeling.
He wins a $2 million judgment, supposedly on behalf of his disabled wife, then fails to spend one red cent on her. Now, instead of divorcing her, this sweetheart wants to put her six feet under so he'll inherit the rest of her $$. His girlfriend had better pray that she never becomes disabled.

Emails sent. Thanks to the link someone put up - very easy. All sent with one email and I went to see if returned and had all the "thank you" messages. Looks like all went.
Wish I had done a better letter - mine was too long and I was probably not communicating very well (but - they won't read it anyway) I did put Terri Schiavo's Murder as the subject.

Forgive this intrusion, but it might be good to realize two things:
1) Bush didn't call this session for the purpose of addressing Terri's plight
2) if the legislation gets passed within 24 to 48 hours (debates, etc.) it applies to 'pending' terminations via dehydration/starvation, and Terri's execution is already underway and no longer pending.
I realize that folks want to believe Bush has stepped up to the plate, but the truth is far less encouraging ... and I used to think highly of the man. I was naive, he is no where near as decisive as his brother, our President.

You have any other selected addresses for me, Not Just? I hit the Speaker with: I can't starve my dog. You can't starve your citizen.

Freepers, we need your help NOW! This is coming to you from Terri's family, live from the vigil site.
Jeb Bush has called an emergency special session and they will take it up 8:05am eastern time. IF the measure passes, Terri's execution will be stayed and feeding/hydration will resume immediately. She will be SAVED if this bill passes.
We need you ALL to call the Florida Legislative Branch - House and Senate. They can be found at
http://www.floridasoundoff.com/browse/pol_contact.htm All contact numbers and emails can be found at this url.
Terri is still alive and she's starting to really feel the effects of dehydration. Her skin is starting to crack, and she is in pain - but TERRI IS FIGHTING TO LIVE. This is NOT over. By the Grace of God, she is still alive. If Terri is willing to fight, we have an obligation to fight along side her. No matter where you are tonight, or where you are registered to vote, we need you to call these Florida Legislators NOW.

Question: how can the legislature make the 'pending' function retroactively to apply to Terri's execution already underway? Wording please.

Bump.

Also, if Terri is receiving Morphine, she will be less able to compensate for the metabolic acidosis, due to slowed breathing. I hope that this area of Florida is humid, it will help slow the rate of dehydration.
To: MHGinTN
Sorry, but I have way too much hope to let details interfere with my excitement tonight. And I choose to err on the side of Jeb Bush UNLESS he blows this tomorrow.
I seriously suspect he knows the spotlight is on him. I'd bet he's going to use his bully pulpit to do whatever is necessary to stay this execution. If they change the law, I'd bet he'll march to that hospice and order them to insert her feeding tube ASAP!
And if he doesn't pull it off, he's toast. Burnt toast!
I have high hopes. (Not to mention high expectations!) And he'd BETTER not let us down.

God bless you, Oreolady. Heck.... God bless us ALL! But more importantly, may God bless and protect our sweet Terri. May He give her rest and comfort until tomorrow when Jeb Bush will call the hospice and ORDER them to reconnect her feeding tube.
(((Hugs))) again. I'll see you guys back here in the morning! ~Sweet dreams all~

I don't know, not a legal expert. But if it ends up saving everyone but Terri there still will be many people upset.
So many have fallen in love with her, it's as simple as that.
She looks a lot like my mother too.
