TALLAHASSEE, FL -- According to a news release sent by the Terry Schindler-Schiavo Foundation, Florida Speaker Johnnie Byrd will introduce "Terri's Bill" during the special session Monday.
The bill would put an immediate moratorium on all dehydration and starvation deaths in Florida. Meanwhile, supporters of Terri Schiavo showed up Sunday outside a Pinellas Park hospice.
Doctors say Schiavo has been in a vegetative state since complications from a heart attack in 1990. Her husband was granted a court order that her feeding tube be removed, saying his wife wouldn't have wanted to be kept alive.

Why wouldn't the hospital give her fluids at least?
Wouldn't they have to have valid orders from someone NOT to hydrate her?

No. This whole "fight" is supposedly based on principle. Therefore, it is necessary for the advocates to act in a principled manner. Why do people claim that they pray to a holy God and use language that is profane? Patience might be called for if these were words coming out of the mouth. Instead they have come from a keyboard.

I'm not believing this. Lord help Terri quickly!
To: katnip
And I have never been to a hospital that didn't immediately plug you into an IV whether you needed it or not.

I've been afraid of this. Call me paranoid, but the early reports that Terri needs to be rehydrated "slowly" made me think someone was stalling, using a reasonable-sounding medical explanation as an excuse to let this poor girl die before people figure out she still hasn't got water.
Please keep the info coming, freepers in the know. Meanwhile, freepers like me will pray and wait for word.

Why do people claim that they pray to a holy God and use language that is profane?Good grief - get over it.

What in the world is going on? Is Terri being hydrated or not?? There are many conflicting reports!!! And why hasn't that scum HINO of Terri's been arrested yet?! Isn't it obvious why he's so hell-bent on killing Terri!!
To: MarMema
I am told she is a real hot potato. Good. Burn 'im lady!

This thread is about action taken by the state. That action may have unintended consequences including the state using its power to veto the healthcare decisions of parents. Liberals do not care about the unintended consequences of legislation. Conservatives do because we fear the power of the state.

Terri has been taken to a hospital. We don't know whether the rehydration has commenced. There was to be a hearing on the const. of the law tonight at 7 East Coast time. That judge wanted no part. Another judge has been assigned. The hearing is at 8. If they have not begun the surgery it is because they are stalling for time. They should have put in a hydration IV, don't know if they did. Jeb sent his own attorney to defend the case rather than rely on the AG. That is good. I am told she is a real hot potato. WJS What I would give to have a baseball bat to knock the crap out of those two....
Thank God that Jeb's attorney is defending her. Okay, next round of intercession starting.

This is truly a huge setback emotionally. While we thought things were proceeding, they were not.
Thank God Jeb sent his own attorney, according to Wesley.
Let's keep praying!!! Lord have mercy.

Huh? Are you nuts? I laughed at what another poster said in regard to "what goes around might just come around." What IS your problem?
People on here are relieved after all the weeks of e-mailing, faxing, and calling, and letting off a little steam after things turned out well for Terri, and you come on here with your wet blanket. By the way, where were YOU all this time? What were YOU doing? If you were here and actively doing anything to help, then I sincerely apologize. I just don't remember seeing you. But you can be sure I will remember your name from now on.
And what the H*ll does this have to do with advocating violence to abortionists? I have never said or thought any such thing. There is something seriously wrong with you. You need help. Please do not delay.
And no one is trying to force you to have your children immunized, although I can't imagine why you would not.
Please do not post to me again. I am thoroughly enjoying the fact that Terri is now getting the help she needs. I don't need or want to hear from you. Best wishes to you, nevertheless.

My oldest child had an adverse reaction to the DPT when he was a baby, but thankfully didn't go into seizures. Somehow, the medical community had discovered that the pertussis part of the vaccine was dangerous for certain children. It became a medical notation on his file, just like any allergy. Hopefully, I would think that doctors would understand your conscientious objection if you explained it to them. If not, I think you would have a good bit of support from people here in defending your position. Typically, the rule of thumb is to weigh the pros and cons. Does the disadvantage to the health of your child overcome the advantage that the "treatment" might bring?

Has anybody called the hospital to confirm this?

Urgent, see post 2030.
You may want to contact Jeb as it seems you have a good contact with him. These people are desparate to kill this young woman. They are defying his order it seems.
While you are at it, pass on our thanks, our respects and let him know his leadership here will not soon be forgotten.
God bless him and the legislature...thank God for prayer and the power of love.

"And I have never been to a hospital that didn't immediately plug you into an IV whether you needed it or not."
True! But not if you're under guardianship of someone who's been trying for a decade to kill you.
If MS is as depicted by those nurses' affidavits, he is probably intimidating the staff and asserting his rights. Not to mention his attorney is backing him up.
As long as MS remains her guardian, she's in grave danger.
