Central Ohio was discovered by Columbus. His boat is on the river downtown.

If they really cared about teaching truth, they could point out that slavery still exists today in the MUSLIM countries of AFRICA.

Funny how revisionism cuts both ways.
It is now postulated that the Clovis tribes, probable predecessors of the navaho, were the first humans in North America. Tracing haplotype X mitochondrial DNA, they may have been relatives of the Solutreans, neolithic people along the Iberian coast, known today as portugal.
So the europeans were simply taking the continent back from those asian interlopers.

I've had a multiculturalist "explain" to me that it was a great honor to be sacrificed by the Aztecs and that the sacrifices went willingly to their deaths. Apparently if this multiculturalist had their way, the Aztecs would still rule from atop their pyramids running red with the blood of thousands of "willing" sacrifices each year. I didn't have a chance to ask, but I suspect this multiculturalist would have claimed that the cannibalism in the American Southwest was "voluntary" and how the elderly, women, and children sacrificed and scalped at Crow Creek all wanted to be "euthanized".

Columbus may not have owned slaves, but he did ship over a thousand back to Spain, I believe. I think he did institute the practice of cutting off hands for failing work quotas.
Corrections welcome.
