Man, do the pitchers always wrap up their arms in those giant pink ice packs after a game? Looks like he just came out of amputation surgery!

Torie is displeased as to the two teams going into the World Series. Pity one cannot always get one's way.

I wasn't saying that Torre and Stengel were similar managers, just that they both either had a sixth sense or a horseshoe up their arses. Who knows what happens if Giambi doesn't bat seventh, or Boone starts?

If every team were owned by guys like Steinbrenner then we'd see a lot better brand of baseball. Baseball ownership is for billionaires with huge egos who hate to lose. When corporations take over a team, the end result is mediocrity. What have the Dodgers done since O'Malley sold them?

Great post! Look at when CBS bought the Yankees -- they were in the cellar every year. George brought the winning tradition back.

For all the talk about Wakefield, I had a sense that they might be going to thatwell once too often. Sooner or later, someone was going to figure him out.

Are you sure Yogi wasn't a zen master?

How can the world be "perfect" if I am defending gay marriage (sort of) and Teddy Kennedy at this very moment? Torie was recently very "good" when he was defending McClintock at every turn, and now has turned very "bad." The Ying and the Yang.

Okay. you've done it. I'm breaking my "83 posts" karma

And as for the common (and ignorant) accusation that the Yanks "buy" all their players, most of their best players are guys they brought up through their own farm system --- Mariano Rivera, Derek Jeter, Bernie Williams, Jorge Posada, Andy Pettitte, Alfonso Soriano ...

Some great players, no doubt. I watched them play in the playoff games. I learned a little bit about their quirks, and their strengths. Jeter is a good egg, I wish him well (Hell, I wish all of them well). Soriano can be tricked by the pitcher. But you know what, I agree, this isn't a payroll envy thing. Nope, not for me.

I am still pissed about the strike. Yup. Baseball can kiss my ass for the whole year. I'll watch the playoffs if a team I care about is in, otherwise MLB can count me out.

I harbor no illusion that my opinion matters to MLB. I am only one consumer. But that's my honest story. I catch games while at the airports, but not at home -- unless the Cubs, Sox, Brewers or Tigers are in the playoffs. So, until next year (or maybe longer), see you on threads other than baseball!

I was inclined to be for the Sox, unitl I got wind of how the Leftist Rats were going to use it in conjunction w/ their convention next year. Also the hateful guy who runs moveon.org was for them. It'unfortunate how the loony Left tried to co-opt the Sox, well I hope they emulate them and lose big in 2004. It's a shame that Chicago and Boston are cursed, I suggest those cities should stop being Leftist cess pools. Maybe then the curse will be gone.

ESPN radio reports that the Gov. of NY might offer "asylum" to Grady Little (like the FL governor who offered that Cub's fan asylum).

HAHAHAHAH -- New York is not a leftist city? Gimme a break. Trying to confound good (more or less ) honest sport with politics is lame. You can try, but it's stupid.
