I believe that is what's known as a "healthcare surrogate", but I may be wrong...

What's the emoticon for a "bronx cheer"?

Actually, Terri's parents were convinced by Michael to sign legal documents giving Michael sole control over her guardianship on the second day of her collapse, because "it would make help for Terri easier to process". They were trying to help her get the best possible care back then, and Michael was busy fooling everyone that he wanted to help her, too.

What about having a signed statement from Terri herself? One repudiating her guardian or her execution?
Write it up, open the inkpad and witness her fingerprint signature.
Discuss its validity AFTERWARDS.

Have you heard any more on the possible intervening of POTUS Bush?? or was that a dead end street??
To: Ohioan from Florida
So, they made a mistake, and sense then have been fighting in the courts to get this mistake overturned? Is that a true representation of the lawsuits?
Why didn't they petition the Florida legislature to change the law?

"Did you read that on the day of Terri's surgery to remove her feeding tube, that afterwards her parents and Msgr. Malinowski were permitted to visit Terri. He apparently blessed her on her body with a relic from some garment that Mother Teresa wore. She is to be beatified on Saturday. She needs another miracle to be canonized. Wouldn't it be lovely if Terri were to be healed in the same sort of way that Teresa Neuman was?(Sorry, I don't remember which thread or post to direct you to, but it was recent)."
It would be a miracle. Unfortunately I don't know alot about this saint, my best friend was very devoted to her. I mostly remember her talking about how she lived on only the Eucharist. If only they could give it to her, who knows what would happen.
I didn't know Mother Teresa was being beatified tomorrow!! What a coincidence. I'll just keep hoping and praying!

"If she is incapacitated, the decision is her husband's to make, NOT her parents. Parents lost legal standing when she married."
That's very true. I have firsthand experience with that, watching my father get ill with bacterial meningitis while married to his second wife (my mom died); his second wife is currently sucking him dry (financially, of course).
In the past year and a half, I have learned the hard way--even though I am a lawyer--that there is nothing I can do about it.

Have the parents filed a complaint with the police against Michael Schiavo?
I find it hard to believe that the lawyers would have overlooked this tactic, but you never know.
Instead of going after the judge, why can't Michael be charged with neglect? This could be a new case, as he is now in violation of the Florida guardianship law that states a guardian cannot deny basic care (food and water) to their ward. He may have the right to pull her feeding tube, as it is considered artificial life support, but he cannot deny her right to eat through her mouth.

"Finally, what have you done? I strongly suggest you don't claim much, because, whatever it was, it was a total and complete failure, wasn't it."
No moreso than anything you've done, now was it.
I do know that the family's legal counsel believes that my work has helped them. Ultimately, no one wins with a corrupt system administered by scoundrels and cowards.
Right does not make might, now does it. If I recall correctly, Saint Paul got his head chopped off, after persuing his litigation through proper channels.
Perhaps you'd chide him too, for not having better counsel.
I do not share your total faith in the legal system. I've seen my own share of abominations and travesties. I've seen good lives destroyed, mercilessly, by lawyers and judges. Some of these lives were very close to me. Very close.
In summary, I find you, and your smug patter to be disgusting.

Does anyone know if Michael still works at Morton Plant Mese Countryside hospital?I didn't know he's in the medical field. Him having access to drugs and how each reacts adds even more suspicion to his determination for her not to recover.

Calling all catholics!!!
Its Friday, 3:00, the hour that Christ died. I ask everybody to recite the Divine Mercy chaplet. The promise that comes with it basically says "I will grant any request if it conforms to my will".
Right now is a very special "time". Everybody, implore the cruficied Jesus for mercy for Terri.

I'm so glad that you are seeing the benefit of not being spoon-fed by the media at large, and of doing some honest looking at the background material. In this particular case, there is a plethora of evidence to suggest that Michael is NOT the loving, caring husband that he keeps trying to project through his lawyer.

Indeed, Lady, indeed.

Discuss its validity AFTERWARDS. You don't understand. Things of this sort are not even contemplated at the Country Club. Duffers' Honor and all that.
Why, it would be like not taking the Marquis of Queensbury Rules to a streetfight! We can't have that sort of thing going on. We might accidentally win!

I didn't know that Michael ever worked at Morton Plant hospital. You know that's the same one that they took Terri to when an infection at hospice got going in August, don't you?
To: Ohioan from Florida
I think he works there.
We should ask them to either fire him or ask him to resign. Noone would want the chance that he could kill them, too.
