Buffalo is a little town compared to New York City. Last time I was in Buffalo, it seemed a bit run down but that was years ago, hopefully it has made a comeback, it seemed like a decent place with nice people.

Am I the only one who HAS to mute the TV and turn up the radio broadcast of the Sox/Yankmee games?

(Breaks out his McCarver impersonation) Well, you see you got your Joe Buck. Yeah, he came into the business because of his name, but he's halfway decent. Then you have your Tim McCarver. He likes to point out the painfully obvious because that's all he knows. Even though he played a bunch of years in the game, he doesn't know jack.

Wouldn't stop the NYers I know (switching allegiance to a frontrunner, not driving) -- and you do realize that there is more to NY than NYC?

That was exactly my point. It seemed to me you were lumping Buffalo in with the other NYC-area teams. A lot of people don't realize how big a state NY is. I grew up in Rochester, and when I moved down south, people asked me what it was like living near NYC!

I think Fox should supply the play-by-play announcer, but the color commentator should be from the station of the home team.

Prior to Sunday's shutout, the last pitcher to shutout the Cubs in the playoffs was a Boston Red Sox pitcher by the name of Babe Ruth.

Am I the only one who HAS to mute the TV and turn up the radio broadcast of the Sox/Yankmee games? Those guys are utterly horrible! Even when they're not kissing the Yankmees a$$es they're unbearable.

Just be thankful you can. WEEI doesn't webcast their play-by-play or I'd do that too, down here in sunny FLA. Where is Curt Gowdy when you need him?

At the risk of sounding like I'm piling on Nomar, who seems like a good guy even though I'm a Yankees fan, I did get a chuckle when ESPN said "Nomar has been MIA -- get it?"

Tim McCarver is baseball's answer to Bill Walton.

BTW, what the heck does "piece of hitting" mean? McCarver is the only one I know who uses that phrase. You never hear "what a great piece of passing by Steve McNair!" or "That was a great piece of driving by Jeff Gordon!" But McCarver says "piece of hitting" all the time. Drives me nutz.

At least McCarver didn't say "What a great piece of ass on Rivera" (McCarver was praising Rivera's graceful gait yesterday)

If you ever want to read about some pretty vicious warfare, get a book on the fighting around New York City between the pro-American militias and the Loyalists. There was a lot of hate, murder, torture, all kinds of nasty stuff going on. Once in awhile around here they still uncover the remains of victims of massacres that took place over 220 years ago.
