Am I the only one who HAS to mute the TV and turn up the radio broadcast of the Sox/Yankmee games? (Breaks out his McCarver impersonation) Well, you see you got your Joe Buck. Yeah, he came into the business because of his name, but he's halfway decent. Then you have your Tim McCarver. He likes to point out the painfully obvious because that's all he knows. Even though he played a bunch of years in the game, he doesn't know jack.

Tim McCarver is baseball's answer to Bill Walton.

BTW, what the heck does "piece of hitting" mean? McCarver is the only one I know who uses that phrase. You never hear "what a great piece of passing by Steve McNair!" or "That was a great piece of driving by Jeff Gordon!" But McCarver says "piece of hitting" all the time. Drives me nutz.
