I'm heading to the Cubs thread next but first we have to have dinner. Game started at 4:18PM and I rushed home from work to watch the game. We are now going to sit down to a dinner of cajun catfish. See you on the Cubs thread in about an hour. Go CUBS! I do want to see the Cubs and Red Sox in the World Series and after this game, it just might happen.

It's Torre strategery. I would not at all be surprised to see Mo go 3 innings tomorrow if the Yankees have a lead after 6. In game 7 you pull out all the stops.

Calvin Schiraldi was the relief pitcher who blew Game 6 for the Red Sox in the 1986 World Series. Bill Buckner takes an unfair amount of the blame for that disaster.

Bill Buckner takes an unfair amount of the blame for that disaster. I'll second that.

No he's a Planet.

Don't be a playa hata. It's not his fault that he's the most dominant player in the major leagues.

Boone is/was very streaky. He started off either 2001 or 2002 below .2000 until at least late May, then ended up the year in the .280s are being over .300 for a bit.
The Reds had a fire sale after a mid-season slump and the firing of Father Boone. They at first said Bret Boone was untouchable and 24 hours later he was gone. They dumped a lot of payroll. Besides Boone, I can't remember who else they got rid of besides Williamson, who's pitching relief for Bosox.
My reaction upon learning that Boone was going to the Yanks was that he's not a NY pressure-cooker kind of guy.

It's not his fault that he's the most dominant player in the major leagues. I think Barry Bonds gets that distinction. Nobody affects an entire game like he does, even when he doesn't get a single hit. But both Manny and Bonds have that irritating habit of standing and watching their home runs.
