Hugh Culverhouse donated $350,000 to the Never Back Down super PAC backing Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis's presidential campaign in June, but he won’t be giving any more money unless the governor's ongoing campaign reboot includes a new message.

It’s not about the message.
When you see Desantis, you see 51% of what his donors are telling him to say.
When you see Trump, you see Trump.
It is the same winning message and campaign strategy that worked so well for both Romney and McCain.
“Among the warning signs the DeSantis’ campaign is in meltdown mode: His largest donor recently told Reuters that he won’t contribute anymore money unless the candidate moderates his approach and attracts other big donors.
“He does need to shift to get to moderates. He’ll lose if he doesn’t. ... Extremism isn’t going to get you elected,” said Robert Bigelow, who contributed $20 million to Never Back Down.”
“It is the same winning message and campaign strategy that worked so well for both Romney and McCain.”
Well, Obama was elected twice, so the messaging from McCain and Romney worked as intended.
Too bad for meatball
When you see Trump, you see Trump.”
Yikes! You hit it on the head. DeSantis on his own is excellent. But like you said, he is speaking “donor” and the people understand that language perfectly.
DeSantis needs to pull out and get back to governing FL before he does anymore damage to his reputation.
“Well, Obama was elected twice, so the messaging from McCain and Romney worked as intended.”
Indeed it did.
How many people do you know who are actually moderates or independents? The political divide has grown so wide now that there are actually very few. So, when I hear someone say a GOP candidate needs to “soften their view to attract the ‘moderates’, what I hear is “abandon conservative viewpoints and promise to work across the aisle and give the left whatever they want”.
yes, the sooner he drops out, the better will be his chances in 2028.

Exactly. DeSantis is not his own man. And I don’t think it’s only money...he could have sold the big donors on his vision and told them he was their only real shot if they didn’t want Trump and convinced them to follow him and his vision. But my guess is he was just a yes man when the discussions got real. I actually think his heart isn’t in this.
It really doesn’t take money to have courage.
Trump should just televise this Bill Clinton speech from 1995 and then simply state “I’m Donald Trump and I approve this message.”
Very short video - about 84 seconds.

When I see DeSantis, I see a man who fights and wins conservative battles. I see a leader who accomplishes the stuff he said he was going to do.
When you see Trump, you see Trump.
Yeah, pretty much.
“ the sooner he drops out, the better will be his chances in 2028.”
Trump will be running again in 28
If Trump runs in 2028 or 2032, Ron is really screwed.
“ If Trump runs in 2028 or 2032, Ron is really screwed.”
As are the rest of us.
>> When you see Trump, you see Trump.
Yes and Amen!
TRUMP CANNOT BE BOUGHT.
We are screwed only if Trump does not get elected. Trump is by far the best president in my 83 years life, and his 4 years will be remembered as the golden era in America. There were no new foreign wars started, no foreign wars continued, unemployment was record low, gas prices (inflation adjusted) were record low, inflation was record low, there was no shortage of baby formula, in fact there were no shortages anywhere. Simply AMAZING PRESIDENT. America is screwing itself by electing likes of Biden.
