Evil: Here Were CNN’s WORST Moments Immediately After Trump’s COVID Diagnosis
MRC Newsbusters ^ | 10/2/2020 | Curtis Houck

Throughout Friday’s early hours, CNNers repeatedly expressed best wishes to President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump after having tested positive for the coronavirus. But behind those best wishes, CNN not only levied their usual, poisonous rhetoric, but plenty of subliminal levels of apocalyptic brainstorming, gloating, and calls for a return to global lockdowns.

Perhaps worst of all, it led off CNN analyst and former Obama flack Sam Vinograd claiming the President’s diagnosis could “be the most dangerous moment that the U.S. government has ever faced.” No word on why the Civil War, Cuban Missile Crisis, four presidential assassinations, September 11, 2001, or two World Wars tested America and her government less.

This author kept up through the night and combed the first 90 minutes of CNN Tonight after the President’s tweet to come up with the most ghoulish moments. Below is both a video providing but a sampling of the hot takes and then a Notable Quotables-style blog.

A “deadly” virus with a slim 99% survival rate!

I don’t mind seeing the Left have their fun now, because they will soon be crying for the next four years.

Nowhere has it had a 99% survival rate.

Lemon: “Sanjay, you mentioned hydroxychloroquine. The President took it. It – it did not work. Listen. I don't mean to – that in a – you know, I'm not being facetious, but it did not. It obviously does not work and did not work for him.”

Incredibly ignorant Don Lemon thinks HCQ is supposed to keep someone from catching Wuhan Flu. No, Lemon - it just lets zinc in to mitigate the symptoms so one easily survives. Guess what? It's working fine.

CDC’s new IFR survivability estimates after contracting the virus are broken down by age as part of the agency’s “COVID-19 Pandemic Planning Scenarios” Scenario 5: Current Best Estimate are as follows:

0-19 years old survivability rate is 99.997%
20-49 years old survivability rate is 99.98%
50-69 years old survivability rate is 99.5%
70 years old or older survivability rate is 94.6%

And within those age ranges, the mortality rate is also skewed by comorbidities. Diabetes and dementia being most significant .

Why do you guys keep quoting a 99% survival rate?

Once you’ve been diagnosed, there’s a >2.8% chance of death. (Total cases so far: 7,497,980. Total deaths: 212,702. See https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/). Do the math - that’s a CFR for people in which infection is confirmed of 2.83%.

Death aside, roughly 30-40% of cases of even ASYMPTOMATIC people are reporting major health issues “after” recovery. Just this AM read 2 stories within a minute of each other..first, 30 year old perfectly health rock climber. Got COVID and was hospitalized. Never went into the ICU, though. “Recovered” but has permanent damage to her heart and veins. Can’t walk half a block. Can no longer have caffeine or alcohol, as her heart races to 180+ while just sitting. Second story very similar - “perfectly healthy” person in their late 30s. Very similar outcome..yeah, didn’t DIE, but was major league screwed over with permanent health problems.

Deaths alone are not the whole problem with this virus, although that’s a big enough deal with a nearly 3% CFR.

To get to a “99%” number, you have to play some serious games with the denominator and ASSUME that there are at least 10X the “confirmed” cases out there. But no-one knows how many non-confirmed cases there are, so that’s pure conjecture and nothing else.

Let’s not play the same game the left does and repeat a lie often enough for it to be believed. The CFR is nearly three percent, and that’s based solely on deaths/confirmed cases.

Does that mean 5.4% (or roughly 15 million of 300 million population) die from the virus or contract it?

Forgot to average all of the cases that would lower the overall figure to somewhere around 6-7? million and not 30.

Or FDR's polio, or William Henry Harrison's pneumonia, or maybe Washington's dentures.

I believe it means 94.6% of those 70+ who contract it, survive.

The president with a head cold is the worst crisis we he faced? really? If he is one of the few that gets sicker it still wouldn’t be the worst crisis we have faced

The talking point will be that "President Trump is too ill to continue to function as President, and should step down immediately." They'll deal with getting rid of Mike Pence afterwards.
