If parents were making sure that their children were being taught about their constitutionally enumerated protections, then the referenced student would be able to defend his Trump flag by politely reminding his teacher of the following.

Problem is that taxpayers, not UC Berkeley offending state actors, will probably pay compensation.

My children have all graduated and are gainfully employed. However if I was told to remove flags, pitchers, etc from the room so the school could use it I would send the school a bill for the rent of the room. If they are demanding control then they can pay rent.
