I could very well be wrong — but I think I remember reading a few months back that there are still a few isolated cases of smallpox that crop up occasionally. If what I read was accurate, wouldn’t that mean that it hasn’t been totally eradicated?
A very scary thought is that some asinine terrorist may find a way to smuggle a vial out of the lab (IIRC, it’s only stored in one lab in the U.S. and one lab in Russia). If that were to ever happen, God help us.

Blue states have been providing lavish retirement benefits to their public sector unions. Many workers end up with two or more pensions, as they hold multiple government jobs over the years. And the pensions pay basically full salary plus top tier medical, etc. The pension obligations they have are insurmountable. It is inevitable that these states will default on those obligations, it is not possible for them to tax enough to pay them.
And like a gift from God came china virus. Now they can (1) blame their crumbling economy on Trump and (2) demand that the fedgov bail them out. But not one dime of any federal relief will ever make it it a citizen. It will go to the unions after the politicians skim off their cut, of course.
But Trump isn't agreeing to give them anything. What to do, what to do? I know, make it worse, much worse. Crater the economy by refusing to ever open until the fedgov is compelled to step in. That's the plan.
Illinois will be an interesting prison planet soon.

Someone on my Facebook (yes, I know) feed admitted pretty much exactly that. Something to the effect of: “They don’t want to reopen to save the economy, because it’s already destroyed. They just want to save capitalism. They are afraid that when we reallocate resources to ensure our survival, we’ll never want to go back.”
Perhaps I’m an optimist, but I don’t think that strategy will ever work here. The vast majority of Americans want to get back to their lives, not sit at home in their jammies and live on government cheese.

You get the government you voted for from the choices given to you by the party bosses.
You need the option of selecting None of the Above to really get the government you voted for.
Any candidate who received less than None of the Above would be out.
If no candidate beats None of the above, it would go into a separate election with new candidates.
Yes, it would be a deluge at first but could work out within one or two cycles.
How about HIV?

How about Lyme Disease?
How about Ebola??
