At a meeting of White House senior staff last week, acting White House chief of staff Mick Mulvaney made a bold prediction: If the House impeaches Donald Trump, he will win 45 states in his 2020 reelection race.
Which is some kind of prediction! But could it, you know, actually happen?
Well, start here: In 2016, Trump won 30 states as well as Maines second congressional district. (Maine apportions some of its electoral votes by House seat.) Meaning he needed to get 14 or 15 more in order to make Mulvaney look like a genius.
Thats going to be VERY hard, for a few reasons.

indeed!
I cant wait to watch cnn when they call the 48 states! Poor Wolfy!
“I don’t see 45...or anything close. There are more than a few states that are *absolutely* lost.”
I can see Trump winning as many as 35 states, but 45? You’re right—the Dims have a pretty good lock on a sizeable number of states due to immigration, homegrown leftist nutbags, welfare dependents, and vote theft.
I think with NYers fed up with DeBlahblah, Trump has a chance in NY. Also, with Latinos and Blacks, Trump has made significant inroads into the inner cities. Trump may not win the states who are solid D’s, but if he wins reelection he will also win the popular vote,
The RED areas represent the American people who are being disenfranchised from the impeachment process.

It all depends. Landslides happen when the other side gives up and shits the bed. That is very, very possible for 2020, given the pathetic Democrat lineup.
Their lineup is so pathetic, in fact, that two time loser Hillary Clinton is even rumored to be considering another run.
Trump doesnt have to be a rock star to win a landslide - Richard Nixon wasnt a rock star in 1972 - McGovern was just a dud.
2020 can easily produce a similar landslide, the way the Democrat primaries are shaping up. It has nothing to do with demographics.
All President Trump needs to do is be himself and let his incumbency do the work.
Well, they would be disenfranchised, IF the impeachment process were successful - but that is a very big if: It wont be successful.
An unsuccessful impeachment is our friend because (as you say) the voters DO NOT like to be disenfranchised.
The Democrats will pay dearly if they pursue impeachment, and fail.
Which they will.
I see a landslide shaping up.
For the record, Nixon and Reagan both had 49 state wins.
The Trump haters need to remember that people will vote their pocketbook, and only two previously-elected presidents have been voted out of office since WWII: Carter and Bush I. Ford was never elected to either POTUS or VP.
Now, we have the lowest unemployment rate in over 50 years, median household income at the highest level ever, and personal income growth 4x better with two years of Trump than with 8 years of Obama.
Does anybody really think the electorate will vote for ‘change’?
By Obama’s count, Nixon carried all but 8 States - an “even” 49
