The Green New Deal will eliminate Nuclear, Coal, Gas, and Oil fired power plants. They’ll criminalize automobiles, trucks, trains, and airplanes. The only allowed power will be Solar, Wind, and Hydro.
None of their substitute power sources can possibly provide enough power to sustain the population as we chose to live now. No travel, no heat, no air conditioning. No television, little radio. Far fewer manufactured products, if any at all.
Couple that with the rise in support for Socialism, government support for abortions, and even euthanasia.
Fabian Socialists of the late 19th and early 20th centuries advocated a dramatically reduced world population, consisting of only the aristocratic few, and whatever surfs were required to service them.

There is also opposition to hydro power from the left.
It requires building of dams and changes the course of rivers.
