Susan Cropper cast her vote for Donald Trump in 2016. Two years later, on a Friday afternoon in October, she traveled to Bloomington, Indiana, to tell her story to Bernie Sanders.
Seated in a small conference room, with cameras rolling and reporters watching, she explained that after 31 years at United Technologies Corp., a manufacturing company Trump promised to save, she lost her job. Now, Cropper said, she lives off credit cards. And every now and then, shell pick up free 10-pound bags of potatoes at the local food bank.
It's humiliating, she said. Ive spent my whole life being a giver. I give to organizations. Ive never had to use these services before. Ive never had credit card debt in my life
Cropper burst into tears.
"Every time I turn around, somebody is just kickin' me. Just kicking me down, she said.
At the head of the table, nodding in silence, the 77-year-old Vermont senator listened to one story like this after another from a group of laid-off workers who told him they felt betrayed by Trumps promises. Events like the small gathering organized by a progressive labor group called Good Jobs Nation will now be the focus of a new push by Sanders allies to win over voters like Cropper in states that were key to Trumps victory.

And every now and then, shell pick up free 10-pound bags of potatoes at the local food bank...
There ya go!! So STFU and eat your free potatoes.
I hate that ####ing “news” site.
She needs to ask people in Venezuela how Bernies ideas work out...
For what Bernie? For something that will not happen!
For what??
Dude, Feel The Bern needs another vacation home!
Yeah....I bet she did, every election the liberal media loves to pull up these "supposedly" reliable Republican voters that are now disillusioned with the Republican and support the democrat. They almost universally turn out to be lifelong democrats and sometimes even paid democrat campaign operatives.
She had no savings?
She was not able to go a couple of years on her savings?
She is in the best economy in lots of years and she did not go out and get another job...or two?
And she can’t find even a minimum wage job anywhere with 3.6% unemployment rate?
With 31 years in she was eligible for retirement?
All the Dems do. They all need to lawyer up too because their future vacation home is not going to be as nice as Motel 6.
In a good economy, like this one, there are more jobs than people.
Maybe she needs to upgrade her skills, or look for a different kind of job, or take a temporary job at a lower rate of pay.
Just STFU and stop whining.
And I got laid off during Obama’s presidency. Doesn’t mean I changed my vote. Voted Republican president ticket since 1976 and every election since.
This story reeks of fiction. I call a foul on her story. If the lady is employable, in today’s economy she could get a job in a heartbeat. Any job will do until she gets the one she wants. And she had no savings? Foul.
