Yes, its true: The man who wants to build a wall to keep out immigrants is winning over just enough Latinos to get re-elected. Unless Democrats figure out how to stop him.
When President Donald Trump tweeted, on January 20, that he had reached 50 percent approval among Hispanic-Americans, most fair-minded observers reacted with skepticism, if not outright disbelief. Trump was, after all, still the same man who announced his candidacy by accusing Mexico of sending rapists across the border, the same man who ordered refugee children separated from their parents, the same man who has made building a wall to shut out migrants the focal point of his presidency. Yet here he was, crowing characteristic bravado: Wow, just heard that my poll numbers with Hispanics has gone up 19%, to 50%. That is because they know the Border issue better than anyone, and they want Security, which can only be gotten with a Wall.
So, when even the pollsters responsible for the data Trump was toutingMarist Institute for Public Opinion, for NPR and "PBS NewsHour"cautioned of the high margin of error for that subset, and a possible over-sampling of Republicans, many on the left promptly dismissed it as an anomaly.
One month later, however, and Trump is making an aggressive play for Hispanic-American votes in Florida and beyond. Meanwhile, polls suggest Marist might have been onto somethingand that Democrats should be worried that Hispanic voters could help reelect Trump and keep the Senate in Republican control. If so, it would be a cosmic twist of fate: A party that has staked its future on a belief that Americas demographic picture is changing decidedly in its favor could find itself losing to a man whose politics of fear should be driving precisely those voters into the Democrats waiting arms.

The group of Hispanics that I think he’s aiming at....are legal, and born-in-American Hispanics. You can find a growing trend of capitalist Hispanics that got ahead....built decent lives...and want safe communities. I think it’s entirely possible to sell his program (particularly in western states) and get a third of the Hispanic vote.
Well, fancy that — a sizable percentage of Hispanics care more about jobs and freeing those enslaved by socialism and communism than they do about letting illegals flood into the country.
Politics of fear? How about politics of reality. Have talked to many Americans of Hispanic decent and some immigrants, all having done it the legal way and they are seriously pissed at these illegals. So let kalifornia vote demonrat, that is the beauty of the EC system. All of NY, Kali, Ill.... can vote dim, and it wont change the outcome, but if there is just a shift of a few percent in the minority votes toward the repube party the dims are in a heap of trouble

Yeah, but before the midterms last year they said he was at 37% approval with blacks. That sure didn’t translate at the polls.
"Yes, its true: The man who wants to build a wall to keep out immigrants..."
Yes, PDJT wants people to do it the legal way, going through the turnstiles like all of those legal Hispanic immigrants, NOT like the illegals the DemonRats are hoping will vote for them (illegally).
lol
Wait until Americans of hispanic descent find out that dems want to pay a fortune i reparations to everyone but them :)
Trump carried Hispanics in Florida...by a good margin. Prections by some here that the PRs would vote RAT didn’t happen. Hispanics will keep him in the WH.
And why wouldn't they? They came to America to escape corruption, crime, and evil, and they tend, like everyone else, to value family and decency.
That Clio! She's got a hell of a sense of humor! She's rolling on the floor right now laughing!
If the Dems think there’s a remote chance of Trump getting increased support from hispanics they will immediately demand construction of a border wall.
Trump’s “secrets” are the promises he ran on, and kept, in 2016. In other words, he promoted American heritage, power, and success rather than a sticky, obnoxious, harebrained Leftist ideology.
Makes sense, most Hispanics are naturally moral ethical and American loving as well as supporting traditional American values.
Trump has to keep Wisconsin, Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Iowa. Without those then he can take all the Hispanic vote in the other states he won and he’ll still be headed back to New York.
I’ve had the same experience.
I talked with a Hispanic lady recently who said that her son thinks that President Trump is the greatest President ever. Immigrants? Her father was a legal immigrant from Mexico and her son doesn’t understand why people now “can’t do it the way Papi did it,” legally.
They aren’t AOC fans, either. She couldn’t remember her name but called her “You know, that woman who thinks she knows everything.”
People who have worked hard to improve their lives and the lives of their families tend to resent people who come here illegally and then demand all the rights and benefits of legal citizens.
What?!?
What what?
They should be running advertising heavily of quotes and video of Cesar Chavez on illegal immigration. In Spanish if possible. He hated them, I think he’s even the one who came up with the term “wetbacks”. Heavily in Hispanic and labor communities. It’s about time somebody stood up for the lower classes in this country, isn’t it? Damn straight.
Actually, Trump did not carry Hispanics in FL, nor did he carry the Puerto Rican vote. Cubans were the only group of Hispanics who gave a majority of their vote to Trump (at almost 60%). However, Trump did significantly better with Hispanics in 2016 than the press and pollsters indicated, and Hispanics may have provided the slim margin of victory for Trump in FL.
We should be optimistic, but also reasonable in our expectations. It will be a great victory for our side if Trump gets anywhere over 1/3 of the Hispanic vote in 2020. (He won around 28% of the Hispanic vote last time.)
