News that two former Trump advisers are facing prison time may have provoked a media firestorm in the nation's capital. But to the president's core supporters it's just a distraction from the good work he's doing.
"This is the sort of stuff that should be in People magazine," says James Montfort III, when I call him to ask what he makes of the legal turmoil surrounding Paul Manafort and Michael Cohen.
"It's more important to get North Korea to give up their nuclear arms, it's more important to make sure Mexico is playing fair on trade - than it is to worry about whether Donald Trump had consensual sex with someone years ago."
Whether or not President Trump directed Mr Cohen, his former personal lawyer, to pay porn star Stormy Daniels "hush money" is irrelevant to James from Virginia.
He is far more interested in talking up what he says are the president's huge achievements in office.
"This is not going to change my loyalty or dedication to him," he says, arguing that the national conversation should instead focus on issues such as low unemployment and a healthy economy.
I wasn't surprised by James' unerring loyalty. Ever since I met him in August 2016, just weeks after Mr Trump was officially nominated as the Republican candidate, his support has been unwavering....

I couldn’t care less what Trump does in his private life - that’s between him and his wife. The old expectations about how a president is supposed to live were a farce anyway, as the numerous recollections of JFK’s life showed, and Bill Clinton destroyed even the farce. I don’t care if Trump had something going with this woman, I don’t care if he paid her off. I care that he builds the border wall and continues to serve as the most conservative president we’ve had in decades.
Trump outfoxed a smarmy last-minute blackmail attempt by purchasing a product being freely offered on the open market while protecting the transaction with a NDA, legally enforceable in a court of law as part of the product value for which compensation was received. The NDA was violated, that is the product value was violated, not for cause under contract but for wishful greed - an attempt to resell the product for more money - which devalued the original product, defrauding the purchaser. Trump should receive damages not only for the purchase price, but for penalties under the NDA and also for the emotional distress caused his family. Bunnyboilers beware.
And that is how America sees it.
I heard that the “In” thing during 70’s-90’s was a romp in the Playboy Mansion. Now, because of militant feminism such bawdy behavior has gone underground. I wonder if the FBI is keeping a file on those it wants to hit with blackmail? My trust in the FBI is at a low point.
If Trump was afraid of blackmail why would he talk about it with Howard Stern and squire models and starlets all over town all the time? He was somewhat inoculated from “Access Hollywood” and this nonsense from the lifestyle he’s been living since the 1970’s. Everyone knows who and what Donald Trump is, it’s baked into the cake. Expecting a playboy tycoon to suddenly act like Cotton Mather is ridiculous.
“...than it is to worry about whether Donald Trump had consensual sex with someone years ago.”
Bed hopping has been promoted and glamorized by our society as long as I can remember and now, all of a sudden, liberals have discovered that it is more than mortal flesh can bear if Trump has allegedly engaged in it.
I don't think it has. I've read articles that it is going on in Silicon Valley and other places. It just doesn't get reported.
Im hoping it all starts rolling about 2 weeks after Labor Day.
As far as I know, Trump hasn’t established an entire White House department to deal with bimbo eruptions.
“And I hope that Trump has an October surprise all lined up.”
I hope it’s a string of Pizzagate arrests, complete with video.
Not only that, it's a distraction from the harm the Democrats are doing.
How many people have been murdered in Democrat run cities while the Democrats were getting Manafort and Cohen?
Most “deplorables,” are proud to wear that badge, for it separates them from the socialists who populate the Deep State within our government and leftist media, who are pulling out every dirty trick to bring off the coup of President Trump which they began the day after he was duly elected under the laws of the United States of America. They prefer to ruin this nation and to trade this population for foreigners so they can hold onto the government power which has made them fabulously rich. Sadly, and I mean, very sadly, are too many were have been elected to the Congress of the US by people who thought they would uphold our laws. In office, they grow silent or worse. I am concerned that this Deep State is not going away unless some terrible tragedy comes upon this nation to set things right again.
What I care about is, who's taking payoffs from the DNC, Soros, Steyer, various Hollyweirdos, to influence elections by corrupting the already fake media? Thanks 2ndDivisionVet.
besides which he may have paid her off just to make her go away....
If it had been Hillary, it would have been a female and she would have hired the victim [*cough* Huma *cough*] as aide de campe.
Next week, Trump’s approval rating will go over 50 percent, which will trigger another full-scale media meltdown.
And bammy paid off the iranians who helped him get elected by giving them 150 billion of OUR dollars and bammy is not in jail where he deserves to be.
That’s Correct!
He’s Okay.
