Former White House chief strategist Stephen Bannon said Saturday that President Trump will "win with 400 electoral votes in 2020," following reports that he had lost faith in the president's ability to complete his current term.
"The populist, nationalist, conservative revolt that's going on, that drove Donald Trump to victory, that drove Judge [Roy] Moore to victory, that will drive 15 candidates to victory in 2018, and I hate to break it Graydon Carter and the good folks at Vanity Fair, but yes, President Trump is not only going to finish this term, he's going to win with 400 electoral votes in 2020," Bannon said during a speech at the Values Voter Summit in Washington.
Bannon reportedly said several months ago that Trump only has a 30 percent chance of finishing his current term, a source told Vanity Fair, who said the president also did not know the function of the 25th Amendment, which allows a majority of the Cabinet to vote for the president to be removed from office.
Bannon returned to the far-right Breitbart News outlet after leaving the White House in August. The former Trump strategist said he left his post to be a "wingman outside" the White House for Trump to help advance the president's agenda.
In his speech Saturday, Bannon also committed that he would "get to the progressive Democrats," but said that "right now it's a season of war against the GOP establishment."
Bannon laid out his plans to back challengers to establishment Republicans in Congress for the 2018 midterm elections in an interview earlier this week.
"There's a coalition coming together that is going to challenge every Republican incumbent except for Ted Cruz," Bannon told Fox News's Sean Hannity on Monday.
Bannon rallied for former judge Roy Moore in Alabama's Senate GOP runoff last month. Moore defeated Sen. Luther Strange, who was endorsed by Trump and congressional Republicans.
Trump surpassed the necessary 270 electoral votes in the Electoral College to defeat Hillary Clinton in the 2016 presidential election. Trump won 304 electoral votes to Hillary Clinton's 227.
If Demoncats assemble the usual group of thugs and liars as nominees you can take this to the bank.
Probably he heard criticism from it, so he’s changing his tune. Otherwise, he has different messages to different papers. Ted Cruz frequently said different things to various newspapers than what he was willing to say to “conservative” media. It’s like they don’t know we have the internet and thus can read everything from everywhere.
“he would have won 400 EV this election had not CRUZ and a large number of NeverTrumpers all but endorsed Hillary”
Exactly when do the Cruz haters plan to bury the hatchet?
Trump won with a lot of help from Cruz supporters.
Cruz was the most solid conservative running. He has a proven track record.
Now it turns out that Trump is building a similarly conservative track record by keeping his promises.
Trump got over Cruz very quickly, but certain people seem to be obsessed with attacking him.
Time to wake up out of your hypnotic spell. The election is over. It is time to work together. Cruz supports Trump’s agenda. This is why he is the ONLY senator up for reelection that Bannon will support.
If we could replace all the RINOs with conservatives like Cruz, Trump would probably get every single thing he wants done in a timely fashion. And Obamacare would have been history during his first few weeks in office.
Well Bannon has sense enough to know that Trump needs legislators like Cruz. As many as he can get.
And Texas conservatives are going to send Cruz back again. We need to get rid of the RINOs, not the conservatives.
You have great faith in Ted Cruz.
I think it was more suburban Romney Republicans who defected or stayed home.
No, I don't mean Romney masterminded the whole thing.
I mean Ted Cruz and Cruzites don't amount to much nationally.
Trump won because he was able to pick up votes in liberal Democrat states.
The Cruz voters were in states Trump had already won, states that Republicans always win.
I would say this...the only possible Democratic winner is some black somewhat unknown political figure who plays out the Obama-scenario....is a gifted speaker...and picks up a lot of black votes which didn’t occur in 2016 with Hillary.
I don’t see Cory Booker having much luck in the south. Eric Holder is a one-state winner in the primary at best. Julian Castro could win three or four primary states but he’s not polished enough yet. Maybe Bernie runs again and you might have a somewhat interesting race against Trump. Kamala Harris is more or less a joke and would be more or less a younger version of Hillary (at least healthy).
400 is NOT doable!! Maybe 320!
I read that Hillary did max out the Black vote in places like MI or PA, correct me if I'm wrong
Karl Rove hates Bannon.

Steve Bannon has a message for the good folks at Vanity Fair, stating Donald Trump will not only finish his term but gain a landslide 400 electoral votes in the 2020 presidential election.
Speaking at the controversial Family Research Councils Values Voter Summit, Bannon hit back at a report from Vanity Fair that suggested he did not have any faith that his former boss would finish out his first term.
The former White House chief strategist said on Saturday in comments carried by ABC News: The populist, nationalist, conservative revolt thats going on, that drove Donald Trump to victory, that drove Judge Moore to victory, that will drive 15 candidates to victory in 2018, and well, I hate to break the news to Graydon Carter and the good folks at Vanity Fair, but yes, President Trump is not only going to finish this term hes going to win with 400 electoral votes in 2020.
No, Trump lost by over 212,000 votes in this state and is becoming more democrat by the week. There is a huge influx of libs in Northern Virginia where 20 to 25% of the vote comes from. With the exception of Richmond and Tidewater, Trump dominated in the rest of the state, but the votes are in the urban areas. Trump received only about a third of the vote in Fairfax County, the largest jurisdiction in the state and it was just too much for the rest of the state to make up.
You are aware Drudge is an aggregator and not a reporter?
In the case of Michigan....particularly around Detroit, I think she got 104-percent of the black vote (city officials tried to audit some of the voting books and found too many discrepancies to say with any accuracy that legal voting occurred). Outside of Detroit, it’s a different story. Just outside of Detroit, in Livingston County...Trump won with a 30-point lead. Monroe County (to the south of Detroit) was a 22-point win for Trump. I think if the legal voting had been done in Detroit...Hillary would have seen at least 20,000 lesser votes.
In the Penn, I think the urban black vote came out. There are however, only four counties where Hillary had double-digit wins. The non-urban vote didn’t come out for Hillary as you look at the rest of the state. On the western side of Penn, you see a dozen counties with double-digit point differences between Trump and Hillary. She had zero chance in those counties.
The disconnect for her national vote is that she could only mount serious voting numbers in urbanized areas. She couldn’t attract the rural or non-urban vote. You see this problem in the Iowa Caucus in 2008 and 2016...her theme and message just didn’t work. No one has really sat down and talked to working-class blacks about their votes, and I suspect that a fair number number went to Trump.
My brother brought this up to a couple of the security guards in his company one day before the primary day in the state. They were black, retired Army, and normally die-hard Democrats, from a southern state. In the spring of 2016, they were sold on Trump’s message. The reason? They’d seen the job shift in the 1990s, and fewer jobs for everyone (especially for blacks). In their mind, only Trump could bring back jobs. I think a fair number of working-class Blacks went this direction.
Trump I support you 100%, I was one of your earliest supporters right here om FR, but you really have not kept your pledges to bring back American trade/American jobs once again.
We run a MASSIVE trade imbalance with China. Huge. It has been getting worse every single year, for more than the entire last generation.
Both Republican presidents, and democratic presidents have sold out to China. Year after year. Now we are buying everything, it seems, from China.
If I go into any Walmart in America. Pick five things at random. The odds are (very) high, that all five things were imported from China.
I go into any Target in America. Same result. Any KMart in America. Same result. We have sent masses of industry, which was formerly American, to China. More all of the time.

I know we get stuff cheap from China, but we are sacrificing our very own manufacturing capabilities.
Not good, in the long run. Not good at all.
You need to search the keyword “jobs” here at Free Republic. He is bringing jobs back to the United States. Tons of them.
Not sure I agree with you.
Though I appreciate you being so enthusiastic.
We are importing everything, in every store, from China. That is not something we can do forever.
Might as well start right now, to bring jobs back to America.
I read at least one whole article making the claim that Bannon supposedly said Trump may not finish his term. It was a fake news piece with unnamed sources.
IOW, lying bulls***.
No one should even pay attention to lying fake news using “unnamed sources”. It’s made up.
You need to read more. Tons of jobs happening. Employment way, way up.
It takes more than 6 months to change sources and supply chains. If by this time in 2019 nothing has changed then you’ll have a somewhat valid point.
New York
Trump could definitely win NY in 2020. Upstate plus Staten island, Sussex, Nassau, and Queens whups Brooklyn, Manhattan, The Bronx, and Albany county.
