Former White House chief strategist Stephen Bannon said Saturday that President Trump will "win with 400 electoral votes in 2020," following reports that he had lost faith in the president's ability to complete his current term.
"The populist, nationalist, conservative revolt that's going on, that drove Donald Trump to victory, that drove Judge [Roy] Moore to victory, that will drive 15 candidates to victory in 2018, and I hate to break it Graydon Carter and the good folks at Vanity Fair, but yes, President Trump is not only going to finish this term, he's going to win with 400 electoral votes in 2020," Bannon said during a speech at the Values Voter Summit in Washington.
Bannon reportedly said several months ago that Trump only has a 30 percent chance of finishing his current term, a source told Vanity Fair, who said the president also did not know the function of the 25th Amendment, which allows a majority of the Cabinet to vote for the president to be removed from office.
Bannon returned to the far-right Breitbart News outlet after leaving the White House in August. The former Trump strategist said he left his post to be a "wingman outside" the White House for Trump to help advance the president's agenda.
In his speech Saturday, Bannon also committed that he would "get to the progressive Democrats," but said that "right now it's a season of war against the GOP establishment."
Bannon laid out his plans to back challengers to establishment Republicans in Congress for the 2018 midterm elections in an interview earlier this week.
"There's a coalition coming together that is going to challenge every Republican incumbent except for Ted Cruz," Bannon told Fox News's Sean Hannity on Monday.
Bannon rallied for former judge Roy Moore in Alabama's Senate GOP runoff last month. Moore defeated Sen. Luther Strange, who was endorsed by Trump and congressional Republicans.
Trump surpassed the necessary 270 electoral votes in the Electoral College to defeat Hillary Clinton in the 2016 presidential election. Trump won 304 electoral votes to Hillary Clinton's 227.
Paul Ryan worked just as hard for BJ’s wife.
Bannon didn’t make that remark. There were articles saying that unnamed sources said he said it.
If you have video of him saying it, or transcript, or a named source verifying he said it let me know.
Did Bannon on say 30% on TV? On Breithard? In a tweet? Oh the unnamed source source again.
Thinking large, Bannon could have included the following:
Virginia, New Jersey, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Minnesota, New Mexico, Colorado, Nevada, Oregon and Washington.
I know, I know, but the Pac Northwest might seem a reachable dream as well as the traditionally almost always Dem states of Massachusetts and New Jersey. Think Ronald Reagan if you want to imagine what he might be basing his hopes and dreams on.
Excluding California, of course...
Feel free to weigh in with other states that I might’ve not mentioned, but the ones I listed match up well to the added electoral votes above 2016 totals.
They are going to put up Princess Fauxcohontas or Willie Brown’s kleenex. Either of those wymyns will get crushed without DJT working up a sweat.
I like it, but it would be a stretch.
He would have to clean up the West (Colorado, Nevada), as well as picking up Minnesota, Virginia, Maryland, something in New England as well as New Jersey.
But I do agree it’s looking great right now for both 2018 and 2020.
Looks like another giant culture war win is coming, as Hollywood starts to out its own predators and pedophiles.
Well shucks, how could he get anything LESS than 400 electoral votes against the likes of Hillary Clinton, Elizabeth Warren, Kamela Harris, Maryland’s governor whatshisname...etc.
Oh! Maybe Michelle Obama will be the nominee....hahahah.
EXCELLENT !!!!
He sure will and it will be the fault of morons like the NFL thugs.
I kinda like #4 going from l to r.
I don’t think she’ll be in any shape to run by then. Legally and physically. She’d get beat like a rented mule anyway.
Do you have proof that he said that? I looked and couldn’t find it.
He ain’t gonna pick up Maryland.
I live here. I know just how infested the state is!
Cruz endorsed Hillary ?
If Jesus Christ ran as a Republican he wouldn’t pick up MD.
So Vanity Fair, (LOL) says they have two sources? So V.F. didn’t hear him say that. FAIL.
Interesting how they lie. “Trump won 304 electoral votes.”
No. He WON 306 and two faithless slimes voted for someone else.
I don’t know about 400. As of right now I have him at 313—every state he won in 2016 plus NH, which was stolen by fraud, and ME’s other 3 electoral votes. These I have #s on and can track trends. However, I think Trump would also win MN, which I can’t track (10, for 323).
Also right now I have NV and NM a virtual tie for nine more possible, or 332. VA also in this group (13, or 345).
The next tier would be NJ, MD, DE for 27 more-—but these are heavily D advantaged states (more than 5%) and would not be easy. That could be 372.
CT and CO would be the next tier-—although CO is close and has recently been R for Bush, it has been moving the wrong way fast. These account for 16 (388).
Now you’re into the total leftist states of NY, MA, VT, and IL. Obviously if Trump got to the CT/CO/NJ level, these states might be in play and any except VT would get Trump to 400.
Virginia? Oregon? Rhode Island?
I saw the remark on Drudge a few days ago attributed to Bannon(Trump only 30% likely to finish term).
Some dispute that he directly made the statement.
Maybe Drudge is not as reliable a source as he used to be.
